HAECO hangar hit.
Happened just after a post maintenance test flight. In the last two days.

'tis but a flesh wound! Nothing some speed tape and a good Mong Kok panel beater couldn't fix.

That would be N127UA
UA does its -400 heavy MX in HKG. She had flown in on August 6. for scheduled heavy MX and WiFi dome installation. She had just completed her first test flight before the accident and was being prepared for return to service....was to operate HKG-SFO in a day, with N120UA going in for MX. So after 2 months of work and a test flight. The destroy the vertical stab and significantly damage the horizontal stab. :D |
Expect this is further fruits of the cost saving measure of reduced manpower. Well done, its seems to be working. How many damaged aircraft is this in the last year, three?

Notice while the tail is still up close to the wall the APU is still running ( inlet door open) These things happen all over the world not just HAECO. Remember the brand new VA A330 busting a wing on a JQ A330 in MEL? Remember the AA 767 that caught fire in LAX during maintenance? Remember the Thai A300-600 moving forward and destroying a MD11 in the old BKK maintenance base during an Engine run? Remember the Airbus A340-600 jumping the blast fence while under Airbus pre delivery Engine runs? There are many many more all around the globe. Nothing new here, so stop using this as anti Cx/Haeco propaganda...:D |

Nothing new here, so stop using this as anti Cx/Haeco propaganda... Cast your mind back just over a year, and you may recall they damaged a stab on a CX A330 (HLG) In most places, following the first incident, there'd be procedures put in place to avoid a repeat. |

Swire and the acceptable risk model seems to have reduced from the 1/1,000,000.

United is probably very happy to collect the insurance on the ol' whale. I'm sure it would have ended up as beercans within a couple years anyways.
If anything, they will probably increase maintenance with HAECO on the hopes that it happens again. |
N127UA aka Ship 8427 is line number 1221. Delivered August 2. 1999. (Second to last UA -400 delivery).
Has roughy 60,000 hours on the clock. Lufthansa retired a handful -400s with 110k + hours over the past year. No doubt she will stay in the fleet until the A350s start arriving. |

IMO, it appears you need more vector and less thrust. Can't say the same for your beloved Airbus;) Now back to reminiscing about the Mirage 3, another fantastic piece of French aviation. Gotta love that first turn! |

Nope I'm not blindly defending CX or HK. I took a base to get away from all the crap in the Harbour city but for gods sake keep it all in perspective. :ok:
