Cathay increases flights to Oz

This cut from Ben Sandilands twotter feed regarding CX increasing services by the end of March 2014-----

The Cathay Pacific schedule changes, all using Airbus A330-300s, lift the total number of flights from Australia from 70 now to 74 from about the end of next March, subject to government approvals.

However in the process Cathay Pacific has also eliminated the time consuming routing of some Adelaide flights to Hong Kong via Melbourne.

Adelaide’s seven CX services a week via Melbourne to four Adelaide-Hong Kong nonstops. Melbourne will have three flights all non-stop each day on the route. Brisbane will have 11 services a week but four of these will stop in Cairns, which will have four non-stop weekly flights to Hong Kong.

The current schedules with four flights a day from Sydney and 10 flights a week from Perth to the SAR will remain unchanged. Cathay Pacific has indicated that it wants to serve Sydney’s growth in passenger numbers but will probably rely on taking delivery of larger jets to do this in coming years.

All good news, and interesting given the current Jet*HK debate still not resolved, and yet more flights to CX.

'Subject to government approval' is the joker card I guess.

With Jetstar being a much awaited LoCo addition to consumer choice at HKIA, and with the likes of Stanley Ho getting on board - I'd say all the demands for the rejection of their AOC are merely a bargaining ploy in the great game to squeeze more landing rights from the reluctant Ozzies.
CX are getting first dibs in early. It's obvious what the outcome of this charade will be.

Who's waiting for it?????????
My guess is the guys and gals that resigned fro their previous jobs under the promise of a job working for company that could not legally operate as an airline when they signed up.

Yes, but!

At what cost? Not for us over at your bastard red headed sister, but what will you be giving up? Be careful with your new GMA. We too have been promised things and then tricked. Have you heard what happened to the freighter guys that went over to CX? It has been anything but pleasant! I heard one finally quit?

treboryelk 1st Oct 2013 02:43

What did happen to the freighter guys?
