Single pilot IFR has been de rigeur in some LCC's for years. We are a bit behind but happy to say closing the gap quickly.:ok:

Better lower the pilot retirement age to 40. Probability of heart/stroke issues after 40 and all that.

When the RH seat is occupied by a 250hr,24 y old with all the manuals in flight bag, to all intents and purposes it is SPOs.

Obviously not. Only made the comment to make a point out of codyblade's remark which degrades his fellow colleagues.

If you're a 200hr Pay to fly 'pilot' you are not a colleague.
You're a loser who couldn't, whether thru skill or personality get a proper first flying job on your own. Given the people you're flying with got their starts in the military, flying bush, or small regional airlines, you should expect to be treated with disdain.
No one with so little experience is qualified to sit in that seat, and indeed the Captain would be single pilot.

Depends on the training, in my opinion. There are plenty of 'seasoned' pilots who are useless. Some of the most experienced and 'revered' guys have been by far the worst operators I've worked with. Some of the least experienced have been some of the finest. Let's face it, there's nobody with a sloppier attitude and work ethic than the average Aussie RQ.

Ryainair, for example - the ultimate pay to fly regime, is pretty much an EU- based Emirates training centre. Can't be to bad.

I have a mate who left RYR for BA, and said his RYR training and colleagues on the whole were at least as well trained, and in terms of hand-flying and recency, as really rather good.

I'm not condoning pay to fly, by the way. It's cancerous. However, quality of training is what counts.

There are thousands of pilots coming out of training whose timing is off by a few years. That's not their fault. At a different time, many of these would have been selected by the myriad of airlines hiring at the time. Unfortunately, that's gone for now, and sadly, one of the only options left (in the EU) is pay to play. I understand that after spanking US$150000 on your training - another US$60000 to ensure the previous $150k wasn't wasted probably seems like good logic.

Try not to be so embittered and cynical.

FYI, I'm not one. Suspect you're gonna come back with, "only joking", "no offence" yada, yada; but fella, you generalise like that and expect to be taken seriously? I would agree that the "...average Aussie RQ" tends to say it like it is - someone ( a queue? ) rattled your golden cage?

Next time you find yourself in the seat with a 200hr loser, declare an emergency for you believe there is only one qualified pilot at the controls.

When I hear nonsense like this, it makes me think it is not the icadets that have SJS.

A good friend of mine back in Blighty who started out flying around the same period as me had the ability to pay for flying the modular way, just as I did. The opportunity to apply via the British Airways cadet scheme (which they had at the time) however came up and 'what the hell', we thought he would apply and the lucky barsteward passed all the tests and went all the way. After 70 weeks, there were no slots on the 737 and he went straight onto the 767.

I did not pass the recruitment assessments and became an airline pilot a different way that involved a lot of money.

Therefore I am one of those pay-to-fly 200hr guys who did find himself in the RH-seat of a 737 and after a couple of years, a Classic Freighter.

Apart from the fact that I failed the BA recruitment stage, do you really consider me a loser just because I paid for it you arrogant pr@ck? You are the one with SJS. You believe that you have the monopoly on a wide-body purely because you worked your way up? Get over it, and wind your neck in old man. :ugh:

Plus what is with this "wide body" nonsense. The bigger they get the easier it gets!

Which is why wide bodies are awarded to the more senior folks eligible to bid, and allow the schedule and time off associated with that seniority.
