CX885 on the 27th?
I'm a pilot with VX & I'm trying to check the loads from LAX-HKG, #CX885 on Monday the 27th. My wife & I are trying to get to Hong Kong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Flights to HKG out of LAX are usually MTOW limited. If that's the case then the chances of getting on are slim, even if there are empty seats.
|
Might be better to consider YVR instead. Up to 3 flights daily with less of an RTOW issue. I'll pm you all loads LAX and YVR in a few hours. There's SFO too, but that's worse than LAX.

Just came across this;
Glad you got some information. I can probably speak on behalf of the CX pilot group in thanking you and your colleagues for the awesome attitude and service we get from VX when using staff travel. Cheers. |
Hear hear. Such good people, I'm already cringing at the thought of how CX are about to treat him.

Wait....
Wait.... Wait.... Wait.... "Here's your ticket, you'd better run, it's wide open, but leaves in 3 minutes..." To be fair, the outport staff are usually extremely helpful with me. A stark contrast to what is experienced in Zone C. |
Which is the most disappointing thing of all ETOPS!

BuzzBox that is not accurate.

Really?? Perhaps 'usually' was the wrong word. How about 'quite often'?
I don't know how this gent and his wife fared, but in my experience getting out of LAX on staff travel can be a bit tricky, even if there are empty seats. I'd imagine it would be even more difficult for non-CX staff. |
