Lion 737

See Lion have had an over run at Bali...luckily, no loss of life but a/c a write off. When will the regulatory peacocks in Indo begin to pull AOC's that are patently unfit for purpose??..ooops, I guess its because they still endorse premium levels of corruption...!

They only to that got 737 in February....nows it's Sea Lion.

Undershoot?

A Lionair Boeing 737-800, registration PK-LKS performing flight JT-904 from Bandung to Denpasar (Indonesia) with 101 passengers and 7 crew, was on approach to Denpasar's runway 09 at about 15:10L (07:10Z), but came to a stop in the sea short of the runway, the aircraft broke up in two parts. All occupants were evacuated from the aircraft and have been taken to hospitals with minor injuries (scratches).

The airline confirmed flight JT-904 went into the sea while landing at Denpasar Airport. The aircraft PK-LKS originated in Banjarmasin and was scheduled to fly to Bandung (JT-945), Denpasar (JT-904) and back to Bandung (JT-905). The aircraft carried 101 passengers and 7 crew.

Radar data confirm the aircraft was approaching runway 09 and suggest the aircraft was about 100 feet below a 3 degrees glidepath descending at 700 feet per minute at a speed between 126 and 135 knots over ground, descending through 200 feet MSL about 1nm short of the touch down zone and 0.6nm short of the sea wall.

700FPM is almost normal for staying on GS..so why was there an impact so short of 09?? New aeroplane and all the rest of that stuff, once again, would love to know the cockpit composition...authority gradients etc..I hazzard a guess, we'll see no real surprises!!

From what I've read, looks like the FO was P2F from Holland and the Captain was local indonesian. Not sure on hours though. Lionair even do P2upgrade now... :{

jetjockey696 14th Apr 2013 11:23

Nope.. FO is a Indian (MSD) :\ I hope he had a genuine license.. unlike his colleagues who recently held fake licenses...

pasa001 15th Apr 2013 00:58

Might just be another RA incident with a 737.

What does this have to do with FH?

Yes, we fly to Indonesia, but so do many other carriers. They don't fly here, and no one I know would buy a ticket on them...

The only (dubious) connection is that a former CX FO is their DFO.
