As far as I can remember, Ian was recalled after retirement to Hong Kong, I bumped into him in Nathan Road a few years ago but have no idea where he might be now?

Try the "Cathay Classics" website which is run by Graham Barlow. Loads of members from Ian Bartletts' era, some of which I am sure would like to join your forthcoming gathering.

Ian Bartlett contact?

G'day, just wondered if you had (long ago) actually tracked Ian down for a drink?
He was sim manager when I was there from 1974 to 84 and we kept in touch for years after.
I actually visited them in UK when I was in Europe for another airline.
Lost contact due computer glitches and the vagaries on the NBN.
Managed to find an old email address but it didn't get through.
My wife and I were in contact with them until the computer epic.
CATHAY CLASSICS is long gone now after Graham's sad demise.
The HK Aero Club was indeed an admirable place for a get-together!
Cheers,

Didn't Ian go to BAE Hatfield after CX? Sure he was involved with 146 sim in San Diego too

I am sad to inform you that my father passed away peacefully on the 3rd March 2012 after a short time in hospital. He had been living in Barton near Bidford on Avon, UK for the last few years enjoying the food and drink from the local pub. He regularly regaled stories of his time with Cathay Pacific and friends in Hong Kong with great fondness. I know he would want you all to celebrate with a drink in hand to remember some of the adventures in those exciting times in the colony. Best regards Ian Murray Bartlett jr

Dear Ian,

I was sorry to read about your fathers death. He taught me a great deal back in the day in CX with his usual good humour and expertise. As you can tell from this thread, he was part of CX history and will be sadly missed.
