Paris Hotel

Did anyone else notice the NTC about the change of hotel in Paris.

It might sound great, but it's just around the corner from the airport.

Location, location, location ??????

35 mins to the city??? In the TGV maybe.

The previous hotel was nothing short of a dump, and the location just outside the perifique was pretty 2 star, but come on guys, we must be able to do better than this.

but come on guys, we must be able to do better than this.

Do you really think we have any say in the matter, or that our opinion matters in the slightest?

Our opinion does have a say. But guys are simply not opineing.

You place your opinion when you call in unfit for an unacceptable overnight. This is why the cabin crew will not be staying in the same hotel. Management knows that if they put them at this dump by the airport the sick calls will go up enough to make it counterproductive.

We need more guys to think this way, it is the only thing a company such as Cathay understands. Haven't you guys learned this yet?

It's obvious why the new 6 day pattern to Paris is staying out there, penny pinching on allowances as usual.

Some with longer memories will recall we've stayed at the Airport before. At the Hyatt first then another smaller hotel. Roissy is a nice little town with a few good places to eat and is only a short pickup.

Could be worse.

I would strongly recommend AGAINST taking the RER into the city.

There are 2 different RERs you can take. One is an express and the other stops at every station through some of the most dangerous banlieue of Paris.

It is easy to get mixed up with the two due to the less than average RER information system at CDG. I personally know of one person who has been mugged on this line in broad daylight in front of a bunch of other passengers. If memory serves me correctly there is a shuttle from the new hotel into town, although I may be wrong.

Agree that RER line is an unpleasant place to be after dark. Few Parisiens would take it. Taxi is around €45 if there are a few of you, but that's pretty rare.

There are plenty of moderately good hotels in Paris but not at the price CX are prepared to pay.

NTC says there is a free hotel shuttle into the city center, wherever that is.

And of course it will surely always be fully booked long before you arrive or know which time you want to go/return.

Thanks!
