Dragonair Roster & Schedule Questions for A320 Newhires

No interviews but a mate is considering applying. I do not need a copy of a roster. No need to talk about salary/compensation at this point. I am instead looking for examples of Dragonair flying for a newhire A320 pilot. Assuming you are newly hired A320 pilot and on the line, my questions are:

1. How many days of flying "typical" per week?

2. How many sectors per day on average?

3. Do Dragonair pilots have layovers or is the flying primarily out-and-back and home every night?

4. What are the average hours flown per month?

5. How many average hard days off per month for reserve and for more senior pilots who hold lines?

6. Lastly, how many routes do the A320s fly to from Hong Kong? Is there much flying/route variety?

I am sure this information already exists but it can be hard to find with all of the various Dragonair posts. I appreciate any details - PMs also welcome.

Cheers

1. There is no 'typical' week. It is quite possible you work 6 days in a row one week and it is quite possible you work 2 days in another week. Generally it seems to be something like 4 or 5 days in a row, then 2 or 3 days off.

2. minimum 1 maximum 4.

3. Layovers in Qingdao, Xiamen, Chengdu, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing and if you are on the A330 - Beijing, Kathmandu, Bangalore, Taipei, Kaohsiung.

4. Generally always less than 75 hours (EFP Threshold) although this is creeping up slightly of late.

5. Days off and Reserve days are the same for everybody regardless of Seniority. Reserve days are generally all in a row and 4 or 5. Days off per month are 9 or 10.

6. At last count there are 26 destinations for the A320 including countries such as Japan, Malaysia, China, The Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Taiwan and Vietnam. Is that enough variety??

Moderators,

Please put this thread in the "Wannabes" forum, as well as all the other "what's a G day" and looking for a job threads. Half the active threads here belong in the other forum.

Thanks

One hour into China on an A320 feels like two elsewhere. Especially if you have to overnight where acceptable sustenance is hard to come by. I take tinned food there now, which gives it a camping feel.

I hear they play Chinese ATC tapes to prisoners at Guantanamo as a form of torture. That really is an abuse of human rights. :}

Gnads !! finally something we agree on :ok: except I reckon 1hr in China is more like 3 elsewhere.

One hour on the flight deck listening to you complain Hongkongfooey was about the same as 5 hours next to a normal FO.

Midnight, you are probably one of the shuttle commanders I would go sick for, but I am enjoying the left seat, home every night, clean air, lots of space, and distinct lack of muppets... How are you going ?
Hope you enjoy rotting away up there, by the sounds it's well deserved.
