Dragonair FO interview

Hi all; I have been called for FO Dragon Air Interview in Amsterdam on April. After that interview if everything goes fine I would be called to go to HKG for simulator test and other assessments. I applied trough their website

Anybody knows about the interview and selection process?
On the other hand, anybody nows for what fleet they are hiring? They do not provide this info.

Many thanks

Congratulations

I would assume A320/321 as many FOs from this fleet are bidding for the 330 and I understand they get priority over new joiners.

Interview, did mine 4 years ago
Expect a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere
Technical questions on the aircraft you operate as well as general performance questions.
Expect to be asked about your experience in Asia and what you know about Hong Kong

All the best for the selection

Thanks for your reply Bacou, I hope there is some hope for 330. I really need the change, but whatever it comes I'll be happy to move to Hong Kong. I hope some more info comes along from other guys who just done it.
Thanks again

have they indicated if they'll give you housing or not?

Know "Handling The Big Jets" verbatim.

DP Davies ISBN-10: 0903083019

Know your current aircraft.

And fly some nice raw data approaches in the simulator.

Sicilian under the new contract housing for FOs is 20,000HK$

Krone I agree with your first sentence we'll only get what CX doesn't want: they take what's good (airplane, destinations) and give us what's left.

For Captain's low experience i wouldn't agree though: most of the expats have more than 10,000h including turbuprop and different type of jet before joining. It's not true for local pilots issued from the cadet scheme.

Different contracts that's true but by your post Krone your making the old contract too good and giving reasons to the management to downgrade it.

Kathey, for the trg to be bad there actually has to be training ;)
Although I must add that I had nothing to complain about with the FO trg.

Rocamadour, if you are a low ish time guy, young and single, the C scale will be ok for you, however if you are married and/or have kids you are going to struggle to do anything other than live " comfortably ", and forget about buying property or sending kids to a good school.
A330, no chance, there is a long line of guys in front of you. Command, well here's a math problem for you : roughly 200 FOs senior to you, 5-6 captains per aircraft and somewhere between 4-8 aircraft coming in the next 2-4 years, depending on which BS story you believe.

Can't believe I'm saying this but you are probably better off joining HKA, money similar and time to command 1/2 of KA or better.

No housing

Bacou, there is no housing under the new contract. It is a special allowance which is non- contractual, can be changed at the whim of the company, and which unlike housing allowance paid for rent is fully taxable. It just about makes up for the loss of travel allowance and CNY bonus.
85% of the local pilots rejected the opportunity recently to sign over to the new contract, they were to lose the contractual basis for overtime and hourly duty pay. That should tell you something.
I agree with hkfooey that it is worth coming for a while as a young single pilot to get a new type rating etc, but otherwise it is not a long term option. Many pilots are only here still because of the " golden handcuffs" of the old scheme which paid your mortgage, otherwise we'd be off back to where the skies are blue and not polluted.
Any 330 slots have to be advertised internally so with many ahead of you it will almost certainly be the 320.
