Rest requirements after longhaul pattern

After a LA pattern on a HKG base had a duty the next morning, under 24 hrs since longhaul duty finished. Table X says minimum 2 days recovery but this was and apparently can be waved by the company according to crew control, where in the manuals does it say this can be done? Can't for the life of me find it.

If you have O days when you get back to HKG then they say it is still within the same duty cycle therefor rest period is not less than previous FDP. Something like that anyway...

Ditto if you are on a reserve block. The recovery period starts on completion of the duty cycle. The duty cycle can be made up of a series of duty periods.

And we gave up 5-4-3 for what?

Personally I would find it very difficult to rest adequately after an LA rotation like that, many people would need sleeping tablets to be fit for duty.

Oh, we are not supposed to take sleeping tablets...?

Simple Solution

The simple solution is if you're not fit to operate due to fatigue, then call crew control and tell them that you are unfit for duty due to fatigue and you will be filing an ASR-F. If you file an ASR-F, then that occurrence won't count towards your rolling total for the sickness management intimidation programme.
