I had to look again when I overheard this.....

In the Stinky City yesterday (cx, not Kowloon).....
Manager/pilot one talking to manager/pilot two....
Both in full battle dress, so theyve obviously been called out to fill the gaps due crew shortage....

Anyway, heard 'em say how any new applicant will have to pay in advance for the 2nd interview. In order of $2500 HKD.

Won, lose or draw at the interview, you've just topped up the coffers of CX.

These farkwits have lost their marbles.

Good luck prospective joiners.

PS don't come here, it sux

No disrespect to my Chinese work colleagues who are great guys but this totally stinks of tight ass "mainland" logic trying to scrimp and save a buck at every angle.

Low dollar value - reduced housing - highest ever property prices - slow progression .... Sign up kids Join The Team (Share) The Dream.

CX is turning into 'Ryanair with jet lag'.

In fairness to our Chinese overlords, the QANTAS group also charges for interviews and testing. As an Ozmate poster once said, 'soon you'll have to pay for the cleaning lady to wipe your fingerprints off the doorknob to the building'. Big corporations preying on kids with SJS is becoming the norm, as is pilot-managers degrading the profession that has been so good to them.

In CX's case, maybe they want candidates to pay in advance as the CX interview process is good practice for that with other airlines :hmm:.

However, the word may be out already. There are rumours of courses at ADL severely undersubscribed, and large numbers of CX crew off to Fed Ex. Anyone out there with the facts?

A question

A quick question, and it's serious. Did you also happen to overhear them saying that they'd recently seen Elvis in Area 51 giving singing lessons to aliens who look strikingly similar to those on the Pixar animation that Toss brought to our attention on another thread?

I think they saw you coming, and were 'avin a laugh. At least, I hope that was what it was.

This was first talked about ages ago.

The issue (for CX), is that many people don't even turn up for the interview. By making people pay a "deposit", they think they can decrease the number of no-show's.

makes perfect sense!

they've got way too many applicants not enough hr guys... solution? Get applicants to pay for new hire hr guys!

as always, pure cx genius.
