Any info on the rosta regarding nights away/home? Looking at the routes and schedule on the company website it looks like nights at home night be frequent?

AHK Technical Quiz

I have an interview with AHK coming up next week. Does anyone have the Technical quiz?

Thanks;)

xdc9er 5th Apr 2012 07:05

We have the quiz, i will send it right over,....

[QUOTE]Does anyone have the Technical quiz?

CFM 56
You would have done at least CPL or ATP, this is only a "technical quiz". ;)

Good luck!

xdc9er 6th Apr 2012 02:18

My previous comment was 'tongue in cheek ', I cannot add to what has already been posted.

Thamaroj 13th Apr 2012 16:55

I just back from the initial intervew yesterday, anyone did the same me please share.

Captain's Pay

Just on average, how much does a AHK skipper earn after tax?

BANANASBANANAS 22nd Apr 2012 03:02

Not much I'm afraid. If you are topping up a legacy carrier pension or are domiciled in a low cost of living country it's fine but if you have a UK or Australian mortgage that has to be serviced entirely from Air Hong Kong salary then things are going to be tight.

But the 8 on / 6 off roster does provide for a great lifestyle.

Zapatas Blood 23rd Apr 2012 15:31

Is a type rating required for direct LHS or will 340 command time be acceptable?

Are the 8 days on all out of base or do you sometimes come back through base during your "on" pattern.

feeso 29th Apr 2012 13:50

hka interview

I have an interview with them next month, can i have the quiz as well plz..

BANANASBANANAS 30th Apr 2012 03:19

Zap, Even if you are type rated on B744 or A300 you will still have to do a full HKCAD conversion course (and be bonded US$90k over 3 years) due the Draconian non recognition of other ICAO state type ratings.

8 days on are mainly out of base but some overnights at your home base on your own dime.

bila 6th May 2012 11:40

(and be bonded US$90k over 3 years)
Is training bond legal in HK? :(

Thanks.

BANANASBANANAS 6th May 2012 14:05

Good call. I'm not sure that it is. It might explain why you can elect to be employed by Air Hong Kong (Hong Kong), Air Hong Kong (Singapore) or Air Hong Kong (Malaysia).

lol777 11th May 2012 22:20

AHK

I also got invited for a interview but does anyone know if they give you a housing allowance or supply you with accommodation at your base?

ohshit 11th May 2012 23:43

No such luck.

I did the calculations that you'll probably have to spend at least US$2000 a month if you live in either SIN or HKG.

Don't think they are offering PEN as a base.

lol777 12th May 2012 06:39

AHK

Is that 2000 to rent a place. Sorry but have no idea of living expenses on that side of the world. Will one be able to live descently on the salary they offer for a F/O with a wife and 2 kids.

BANANASBANANAS 12th May 2012 10:35

Will one be able to live descently on the salary they offer for a F/O with a wife and 2 kids.
No. Absolutely not.

ohshit 12th May 2012 15:22

Single no Kids.

US$2000 a month rent. (700- maybe 900SQFT) place. Depending on where you want to live.

You'll probably look at another US$ 2000 maybe US$2500 on schooling for 2 kids depending on the age and where you send them!!!

Gone are the days when companies provided a Expat living.

Meathead Pilot 8th Jun 2012 03:11

hey guys

Does AHK provide accomodation in hong kong during the training period? I was just looking at some apartment rental prices in HK and found it impossible to afford a decent 1br with the under training pay in HK... Also, does anyone know how long the average training period is?

chrislikesblue 8th Jun 2012 19:03

Anyone knows what the training bond will be? And what is the terms and conditions ,schedule, vacation ... ?

granmabaker 9th Jun 2012 03:09

Why does everyone need to PM ? Can't a clear, honest opinion be posted on the public page...meaning right here.It would do everyone a big favour.Having applied to HKA (Capt)too and having rung them up to check the T&C's...I was told that if the application was found suitable, the T&C's would be informed accordingly.Found that a bit contradictory..considering that someone would apply based on the T&C's.Will post once something comes up.
As an aside...the ME carriers are also pretty cloak & dagger....inducting tons of aircraft but considering their oil rich status--pretty smart about giving 20% less than what they should.
Sometimes feel...that all Airline Pilots should be part of a central global Union (National Unions are woefully inadequate) to protect their own..........just thinking aloud...Cheers!!!

If you really believe that then you wouldn't accept a job for less that what you are worth and screw the T & C's for other "aviator"
