Civil Aviation Authorities Ramp Checks ??

How often can a pilot expect to have his licence etc. inspected on the so called ramp checks in HK by the HKCAA ??

Are some Authorities in the world more vigorous in the number of checks on board aircraft than others ???

I thought they used the flights where they operate as FO as a form of checking..I might be wrong but they seem to be sending reports to your company after the flight..

I have had a couple of ramp inspections so far in CX by HKCAD inspectors.
They come on board from the terminal, not at dispatch.
Have been granted a business seat, but also on GD, and are in full uniform.
They do not operate, just sit on JS and observe.
Sometimes go back at TOPC, sometimes stay for a while and have a chat.
Stay up or come back at TOPD and stay for the landing.
Usually they are bumming a free ride to or from their holiday or other work comittments around Asia.
Generally have never had a "spot check" at HKIA. In other ports have had "spot checks".

Heard they use the flights to Aus to check on the latest house they are building.
They have to make sure the ramp for the wheelchair is at the right anngle, and plenty of room for the zimmer frame round the kitchen.
Anecdotally, a token visit to the flt deck fulfills the 'check' requirement.
