T.T the boy scout.

According to the SCMP Mr. Tony Taylor and his C.E.O. friends is going to camp out for 1 night to highlight the plight of homeless people. This is an insult to the real homeless people who have to do this every night and don't get to go to their exclusive club the next day. Cathay Pacific is about to announce their profit this week, let's see how much of a bonus Mr. Taylor will take. If he is serious about helping the homeless, why not donate his full bonus to a charity, this will go much further then their one night boy scout camp. Was Mr. Taylor not in court recently for unfair dismissal of 49 of this employees and made them and their family's homeless?

AAIGUY 6th Mar 2010 02:54

I don't donate my full wages to charity, why would TT?
If we get the SLS + back as reported are you going to donate it all.

He may not be doing much to you, but its something..

(I can't believe I just defended TT ;) )

AAIGUY
now where did SLS and full wages come into it?? If T took SLS he will get that back as well. I am talking about his " highlighting the plight of homeless people" by spending one night outdoor while he was going to get a bonus which ever way, just like the Swire bankers.

Taylor? Never heard of him.

Anytime someone is doing something that is a benefit to those less fortunate, it's to be applauded. Let's give Tony a bit of credit. Most of us are sleeping in our beds every night (...well, when we're not bleary eyed over the Pacific or Y1..!).

40Deg STH 6th Mar 2010 11:57

I agree, well done TT for showing interest in less advantaged. More of us should give time too to others.:ok:

bushveld 6th Mar 2010 14:35

BAM. Grow up.
Get out there and do something yourself. Goodness.

Mr. Bloggs 6th Mar 2010 17:55

TT is only doing this to put himself in a positive light with Hong Kong. He could not give a rats a$$ about the homeless.

Cathay Pacific is getting so much negative PR at the moment (i.e. Local Discrimination, Numerous court cases, etc. The propaganda team suggested he do something to give a positive image of him.

I can ensure you; he is trying to gain more for himself than help the homeless. See it for what it is, a PR campaign by Cathay Pacific.

Nullaman, bushveld and others. I am not knocking the charity work, but this a clearly a P.R. effort. What will these captains of the corporate world do the rest of the year for the homeless?
Most charity's in CX is initiated by staff, not management..... Like the Sunnyside club. When T.T. and his managers got rid of half the Sunnyside commity in 2001 I never saw any offer of regret or support to the Sunnyside club.

Lets not abuse charity for P.R. I don't need to advertise my charity donations, it come from the heart, not for bragging rights.

Bushveld, you're welcome to a copy of my Sunnyside Club and Holland House Thailand Orphanage donations for the last 10 years. Not only financially but I also give them my time, more than one night a year.

I never made fast jets in the air force, I got given the scraps "Caribou" but one of the distinct advantages of flying this slippery beast was the humanitarian work that I did throughout south east Asia.

So what I pledge to do is join Tony on his charity work and offer my "automatic" 911 turbo up as shelter for the homeless. Seeing it's a tiptronic I may as well throw it in the bin anyway.

I think it could sleep a family of four and this may ease the pain felt by all those unfortunate ones that need our assistance.

Capt. Parker,

I never made fast jets in the air force, I got given the scraps "Caribou" but one of the distinct advantages of flying this slippery beast was the humanitarian work that I did throughout south east Asia.
Back when I was learning the "trade" flying the mighty "Herc" in that tropical paradise known as SE Asia there were rumors about an RAAF Caribou. It seems this Caribou was carrying contraband whiskey and ladies of negotiable virtue. This daring young aviator would land in the most remote areas and provide an evening of refreshment and pleasure to those gallant lads defending the Empire. Would you be familiar with this daring young aviator?

BS

'This daring young aviator would land in the most remote areas and provide an evening of refreshment and pleasure to those gallant lads defending the Empire'

I understand that he would serenade said young ladies etc. using his ultimate skills as a guitarist, perhaps this may help with identification...

Beautiful. Now that my laugh has died down to a wheeze ... I've got a 10-person tent, shares in Vietnam Brewery LTD, and two weeks leave. Anyone got a Caribou ...?
