We and our children and possibly our children's children will all find out years down the track when we develop symptoms, my s#!t bucket is about full and most of it is due to pollution!!!!!!!!! a green here ( well above acceptable standards ) rate up to 1.8 times the acceptable WHO level :ugh: The real effect of this grey gunk ( sulphur dioxide and mercury included ) on health in HK will probably only surface in coming years ( as outlined by SMOC ) when the poor little lungs of newborns in recent years and years to come, bear the brunt of the HK gov's head up their ar5e attitude to pollution. And SMOC, my bucket is overflowing :yuk: |
$$$$$$ Vs Health, do the math and leave but stop bleating about polution if you are not able to do something about it. It's not likely to get a whole lot better anytime soon. That's a fact. As an expat you are a guest in hkg. Get over it. "the world and hkg according to me" is for sissy's.
|
I suppose then, by default all the hundreds of thousands and perhaps millions of Chinese that have moved to other countries are therefore only guests and should have no say in those countries as well? Being one of the approximate 3% of Hong Kongers that actually pay good money through taxes every year to support the Beijing apointed government I think it's time to call a spade a spade. Not only do I have the right but I have the responsibility to do everything I can to help improve what we and our children are forced to breath in everyday. Anything less is plain weak.

The pollution does not discriminate between poor or rich, political persuasion, religious beliefs or even if you are not a HKG by birthright!!!
It was 11 years ago I left CX. One of the major decision makers was the high levels of pollution in HKG (even at that time). Sounds like a good decision now!! |
Canuckian.....:ok:
What he said $$$$$$ Vs Health, do the math and leave but stop bleating about polution We are talking about people who think global warming is BS because they have had a cold snap in Beijing the last week, I am F:mad:NG serious, that is what they think :ugh: |
Further food for thought:
- the public here have no direct majority political representation, that is in the hands of the few. - this week a feisty protest, apprently aggrevated by the police, against the flattening of a village for HKG's high speed rail link to the motherland drew the following comment from Beijings representantive here a Mr Cheng: "I understand that these radicals are a minority in HK. If they were in the majority then we would have to send in the PLA troops" So nobody here can have a representative voice.....on anything - even the people who were born here! - Beijing doesn't give 2 fcuks what happens to the air here or at home - see their work on cloud-seeding and imagine how many people die in the torrential rains and snow they create - If the 'expat guests' were to leave when they realise what it's doing to their kids, then perhaps large corporations, like CX that rely on expats to operate, will either use the 'small voice' they have in the Legislative Council functional constituency vote to improve air quality or go to the wall. Finally - onprofile - I wouldn't want to be a 'guest' in your country.....I wouldn't even get a cup of tea would I? Best Regards, N1 Vibes |
Further, further food for thought :
A clear day in Colorado is 7000 particles/litre, a bad day in HK is up to 1.4 million particals/litre  I have noticed lately that the HK government is stooping to even more lying and denial by reporting nearly every day as blue  |
