Level 6 Pilot English Tests in HK?

Can anyone tell me of a school or company where I can do these tests in HK if they exist there...or how I can get this done in HK.?
Thanks all

I'd contact the HKCAD for info first. As far as I know level 6 (native speakers) only need an Authorised Examiner (those check pilots who test Instrument Ratings and Aircraft Ratings) to sign them off. If you are below ("undetermined"), then you'd need a language expert. Back then they had to forward your voice recordings to somebody in Australia to get this done.

This info is quite old, but it came via mailing through HKAC from Peter Moores (who is one of the few who underwent a training course for Level 6 assessment together with Bob Tandy).

Another route is asking these guys:

I am one of the HKCAD examiners for this test which we run at the Hong Kong Aviation Club. Drop me a pm and I'll see what we can work out for you.

how good do you have to do to get a ATPL HK licence..level 1 to 6...i am non native english speaking...level 4 is enough?

The HKAC is only authorised by the CAD to do English ICAO tests for PPLs. It is not authorised to conduct tests for airline entry.

For CPLs and ATPLs, your recruiting airline will arrange this for you and this is acceptable to the CAD.

Note that a leading test officer will "arrange" outside private tuition if he "fails" your test but you have unlimited re-tests to pass (provided of course you "accept" the private tuition arrangement which is funded out of your pocket $$$). :D

Hello ICAC, are you reading this?

gegepilot 20th Nov 2010 17:57

what do you mean by fail test? there are 6 levels and level 4 is needed to get a HK licence, need to renew test every 3 years with level 4.
i just did the test, im a non native english speaking with 10 years flying jets and a foreign accent, i thought the test was not easy, many radios calls to answer, chats to jump in, emergency situations to explain, airport diagram and photos to explain etc...not sure how a new pilot or soso experienced pilot can pass...i hope to get level 5, level 4 would look bad...will know next week...what are your experiences with that english test?

gegepilot 23rd Nov 2010 16:48

Come on mate, you're not trying hard enough. With a bit of effort you could be far more condescending than that.

what do you mean by fail test?
For those of you who are familiar with the test, it is divided into a number of different sections and you have to achieve a minimum standard for each section or else even if you fail one, you fail the whole lot even if you're tops in the others.

If you get a 4 on your first test, do you have to score higher the next time you take the English test??:}

ReverseFlight 28th Nov 2010 11:08

There is no requirement to score higher at subsequent rounds.

The requirement is to achieve a pass in every head.

Good luck (with the tuition, if you're not a native English speaker).
