What are the top 5 reasons not to join CX
Hi all I am thinking of applying to CX – However they seem get some pretty poor press on pprune and in the market… Please let me know what you all think Appreciate all the help |
1) Your self respect. It is very important to feel proud or happy to work for a company, what it stands for and how they treat and develop their staff. That may not be an essential thing when you have to force yourself over a stepping stone for a limited time. When you consider the job a career choice however it will become a very essential issue that will affect you. When the identification of what you are doing, and why you are doing it lacks over a prolonged time, that's when the personal, professional and social rot will set in.
2) Management and their politics, see above and below. 3) Lack of job security, and union backing due no labour laws 4) Your family and their requirements, ie. school, pollution, lifestyle 5) The long haul grind, deteriorating conditions and having to share layovers with people in the same situation (1-5) edit: forgot to mention the most important point: missing out on what else is out there! :O |

Negatives:
Constant erosion of your package. Constant violation of your contract/seniority Pollution Traditional plusses like fairly quick upgrades and bases are now a thing of the past - therefore the sacrifices you make to come here are not worthwhile any more. Positives: Housing in HKG can potentially make you some cash. If you get hired on a base it might still be a better option than your local regional scumbag outfit.:E |

What are the layovers like? Min rest then turn around or a few days here and there. Can you bid for trips?

It’s all about “Control”. We have it and you don’t. We do what we want when we want.
I will give reasons on "WHY" to join CX.
P.S. We have the best Training Captains/Team and I would like to say a big thank you for a job well done. Now that upgrades have slowed significantly, we will now focus on converting based pilots onto other aircraft. If you would like to be part of this elite team, please contact your Chief Pilot. Management will receive their full 13th month but flight crew will not. We will cap it so that office staff will receive their full month. Management will receive their bonuses of course for managing these difficult times. To My Bonus. The Management. |

Here is only 5 reason !
1. No trust or respect between you and higher management.
2. No say 3. No inspiration from management. 4. Leave allocated by company. 5. Aircrew divided because of different payscales and conditions. 5.25. Pay 5.50. 15-20 years to command 5.75. Seniorty system partly destroyed. (direct entry captains, early command on cargo, basings unavailable due new hires and extended senior pilots.) 5.99. Things are just not right for this "professional" "flag" carrier. |

They are leaving... In numbers greater than ever before. Now we even have a new (ish) Hong Kong based Captain leaving for greener pastures. Just love it! |
Mate, Don't draw your conclusions from PPRune on whether to join or not. There are plenty of us that are happy enough here.

Joining CX
The best advice my Dad ever gave me was "Don't take any notice of what other people tell you about anyone". On the Beach would do well to heed that advice in relation to what all the "belly achers" have posted on this thread. Mate, most of them would not be happy anywhere and they don't have the balls to try another employer. Apply, get selected and make up your own mind.

Because you work at an airline which pays better and gives more benefits and you have already a top senioirty.

Somethings work for some people, some things dont. The same thing could be good for one and bad for the other, so just get in first and if you dont like it, you always have the option to go else where. If you never try, you will never know and think 'WHAT IF'.............
