the US Navy had their weather data already on Sunday, so they decided to take the Carrier Battle Group out of the harbour a day early to weather the storm in open waters...
at that time HKO was still predicting that we'd be almost not affected ... |
My head was certainly affected Thur morning after the typhoon party all wed afternoon :{
|
Didn't you see Stu Pryke windsurfing out beyond the runway...... :}
|
Looks like the US forecast was right on...must be due to using a calculator vice an abacus.
HK must have gotten there info from Shenzhen :8 |
Hong Kong Observatory relies on reading tea leaves and bear gallbladder..couldn't predict a piss up @ a brewery.

How many times do you show up at the aircraft outport and see ****ty forecast for HK, decide to take extra fuel only to arrive in CALM CAVOK WX??? And how many times do you see ZGSZ or VMMC forecasting **** wx and absolutely nothing out of the ordinary for HKG, only to arrive with CLK closed due to +TSRA SIG WS??? I personally lost count already about a year into the job....
