KA991 in flight to HKG then back to PEK
Does anyone know why KA991 after taking off from PEK to HKG had to fly back to PEK because of technical difficulties?
|
Yes. All well handled by all involved.
|
I believe an engine stall followed by engine fire....crew on oxy (pax as well according to local Chinese newspaper), Mayday called with a return to PEK. I am not sure where the aircraft is, did not see it when returning to PEK this afternoon?
Well done to the entire crew involved!! :D |
Good job! Passengers report that when the incident occured there was some smoke in the cabin.
It would be interested to know how did China ATC reacted to the Mayday? |
Yeh, the engine stalled because bits came of the front and went flying thru the back :ooh:
Bluddy english rubbish :} |
WHAT FIRE PEOPLE? :ugh:
|
There was NO, I say again, NO fire.
|
OK I am not saying that there was a fire but why did passengers had the perception of smoke in the cabin?
|
Where there's smoke there's (not always) fire
When an engine suffers structural damage the resulting vibrations can cause the oil seals to be compromised. Hot oil enters the airflow > pressurisation system > cabin and forms a mist that looks like smoke. What an awesome job by the tech and cabin crew. :ok: Bravo. F40 |
And thats exactly what happened.
