Bkk - Khi -bkk

How do most guys run the rest on the BKK-KHI-BKK

oldsmithy 26th Feb 2008 04:37

Close your eyes, you go to sleep the F/A wakes you up with a "HE" and you go back to work whilst she calls out NEXT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

SO sits in the seat out of BKK from top of climb to just before TOD, then gets to rest on the ground in Karachi and hops in again about top of climb to TOD into BKK. The Capt and FO either take their rest 50/50 or 1 leg each. Clear as mud?

Sleeping on the ground during turn round in KHI? I'm sure the CAD poodles will loooooove that! :ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

Cpt. Underpants 26th Feb 2008 21:15

...and WHY would an in-flight relief (a supplemental crew member, boarded for the sole purpose of providing physiological rest to the operating crew in a duty period that is within legal limits) resting on the ground, be a problem? Given, it's nigh-on impossible to rest with cleaners, caterers and engineers swarming about, but I've seen it done. Some of our local lads and ladies, G*d bless 'em, can sleep anywhere!

The choice is simple - three shagged-out crew on a difficult pattern (done it many times myself) or one, who in a few hours can enjoy the delights of the pool at the pub and be seen whooping it up in downtown BKK a few hours later or be on the tee for a 0900 foursome?

Kitsune, I do realise it's CX-bashing season, but this is almost certainly something you know nothing about. It's not pleasant, it's not quality rest, but it's not illegal either. Down, boy.

Thanks for your condescension CU, given that I've been in CX since before there was a need for IN FLIGHT rest...... suggest you pop back into your hole and read read the ANO on the definition of such a rest period, including the conditions of the environment where you rest.........

Kitsune,
As far as I know, S/O doesn't need any rest to extend FDP of Capt & F/O.
As soon as he has done his max duty, he is considered PX.
Re-visit FTL before your next line check please.;)
