UPS New contract...very interesting.
Well, it seems that either our management is lying, or UPS's is crazy (....hmm, wonder which one of those possiblities is the most likely...? ). On Thursday, UPS signed a new contract with their pilots. The terms include the following:
1. Immediate raise of 17.7% for Captains 2. Immediate raise of between 18 and 25.8% for First Officers :ooh: 3. 3% Annual raises of 3% up to and including 2011. 4. Improvement to the DEFINED BENEFIT PENSION PLAN, resulting in a Captain taking home over 12000 usd PER MONTH AFTER retirement...indexed to inflation. 5. Improvements to their BID LINE rostering system, enabling pilots to commute to work, with average days-off blocks of up to 21 days between blocks of flying. 6. Commuting for FREE on company aircraft. With the new contract the AVERAGE pay of a UPS pilot is now $206000 per year....and that does NOT include pension. Well, as you can see...CX management seem to be parroting a completely different story. Of course, this is not surprising, as they once famously said 'there is no money in freight'...!! This new contract from UPS brings up a few interesting issues: 1. Perhaps our Freighter pilots should recieve about a 80% raise to match UPS freighter pilots (this doesn't even BEGIN to account for their pension plan). 2. All talk of COS 07 and the proposed PAY CUTS are RIDICULOUS  3. Any American that is considering coming to CX...you must be mad. Beg, borrow or steal a job with UPS. 4. The industry is now at the beginning of a historic pilot shortage. Now is NOT the time to negotiate other than for IMPROVEMENTS to ALL of our packages. 5. Oh..Nick, tell us again about your MONTHLY bonus of $80000 (yes, that was 80 THOUSAND HKD per MONTH). 6. :yuk: :yuk: :yuk: :yuk: :yuk:  |
Wonder how true this is...
