Watching CX Spokeman Tyler

Mr. Tyler's interview on CNN Asia this evening was an interesting exercise.
I thought I was hearing Abeles, but looking at Mr. Tyler.
All the same words. The "normality" of the current operation. 86% of flights leaving on time over a particular period.
Telling the world his pilots were untrustworthy (I paraphrase) - the people who hold the lives of his customers in their hands.
I find it difficult to believe a company such as CX has stooped to this level of management - yet there it is.

Hey Toolie, how is it that you and I came to the same conclusion, after watching CNN?
I've just posted a similar thread on R&N regarding Mr Tyler. He's GOT to be the pilots BEST weapon against Cathay, after having watched the interview!

I especially loved the "The industrial action is not having any effect on our operations.......but for the company to consider re-entering negotiations, the industrial action has to stop."
Why Mr Tyler? You stated, on international television, that the "industrial action" (working in accordance with Cathay's sop's) was NOT affecting Cathay - funny how ALL the financial analysts disagree with you!

:p Did Mr.T, step on it or what.
He seems to be giving a lecture in a managment class ,not an interview.
I am waiting to see Capt.Jhon's interview too,on CNN.

Oh yes Tony, things are just hunky-dory at CX, aren't they? The industrial action is inconsequential, isn't it? Is that why you boys upstairs are again wetleasing crew and aircraft from the cheapest airlines in the Mainland?

What a smug, smarmy man. If he were any greasier, he'd stain the carpet.

Now John, on the other hand -- :D :D :D

Great intellects observe the verbal trash, and come to the same conclusion, KM.
It was indeed an extraodinary display. I have no doubt the words of Hawke and Abeles were scripted and being read off the teleprompt.

Have to admit to a certain feeling of deja vu when I saw the interview.

I was half expecting him to mention ‘breaking hands’, although it wouldn’t have sounded quite right in anything but a Hungarian accent.

Unfortunately with De Jevu:

Who won the 89 Battle??

Not that I am suggesting anything.....

King Kong... You've already shown yourself to be a CX mangement ****** so why not ***k-off!

I see you've edited your profile so as to correct your spelling mistake on the A/C type you flew!! Actually you edited your whole post... Imagine that! Even you couldn't handle reading it more than once??

"not that I'm suggesting anything" Nice one!!

You know as well as I do how many "89ers" we have here at CX and unfortunatly for you it's not enough to keep this heep running!!

Once again, GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR RECRUITMENT DRIVE!!

***hole. :p

Kaptin M 30th Aug 2001 16:51

In fact, I would suggest that King Kong asks a VERY valid question, when he says "Who won the 89 battle?"!
Of the FOUR airlines who entered the fray, only ONE remains today - and that is Ansett...today meaning as at the time of THIS posting - in another week, Ansett may not be around either!

How many PILOTS survived Australia 1989? ALL of those who had the luck, drive, and belief that THEY WOULD succeed. Unassisted by Rupert's "War Chest", and the corrupt Hawk government's funds, almost ALL of the '89 Australian pilots continued to earn a successful living for their families and themselves, from aviation - UNLIKE the FOUR antagonistic airline employers!!

Question answered! Australia 1989 was a DISA$A$TER for the airlines involved!
And as much as the originally employed pilots didn't get their jobs back, the medium to longer term results MORE than compensate for the short-sightedness of the greedy "have it all now " attitude of the scabs that manifested themselves, in spite of ample public warning!
