They were the good guys. And thank God they grasped the nettle. What would you have rather had. ? Hand to hand fighting through all the archipelago, vicious guérilla style wars of attrition on the main islands. Maybe hundred of thousands killed.
And the very fact that they and other good guys have them has kept the peace for some
time now. Hopefully it continues

Well. The alternative I suspect would have been worse. And so we have relative peace. A subjective view of course. More so than our parents, grandparents or great grandparents enjoyed however. Then again no amount of arguing the historical truth will persuade the “woke” generation otherwise.
