If true then HKGs reckoning with Covid is near. It was always a matter of time.
CHP will lash out at the pilot group but their tyranny will soon be over.
In the eyes of their overlords, despite their constant tyrannical actions the CHP will have been perceived to have failed.

I doubt that it will bring the end closer. It will just mean more restrictions for all in HK with a nice big scapegoat for the media to parade around and humiliate.

It will get worse before it gets better. I hope I’m wrong though.

HKG needs a mainland China outbreak to break free. If the mainland is still chasing 0 then so is Hong Kong.

Oh
Armageddon is coming!

Coronavirus: 3,000 cross-border travellers a day ‘doable’ when Hong Kong-mainland China border reopens; city awaiting results on possible first Omicron case in community
https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/...hen-hong-kongs

“The 36-year-old Cathay Pacific pilot, who was exempted from quarantine, had been in the community for brief periods while buying food and getting tested for Covid-19 prior to the positive result. A whole genome sequencing will be needed to confirm whether the pilot, whose viral sample carried two key mutations linked to Omicron, was indeed carrying the variant.”

Because people have bills to pay.

A dangerous situation to be in. Financial pressure, stress of 'health' measures, fear of sacking, extreme fatigue, complete lack of support from DFO / GMA......

Overall this is excellent news.

Assuming the plastic shields at the food outlets he visited in Mong Kok failed to stop the virus this could well be a massive out break in one of the most densely populated areas of HKG. Once the wuhan virus in endemic there is no point in keeping the border closed.

But there is plenty of support from Doctors with CAD representation. The directors And GMA are encouraging you to use the EAP and other avenues of you require. That way you can stay home be stress free and enjoy a pay cheque to pay those Bills at least for 6 months. If you are not coping with tests and forms then you will be found to be in breach of the Notices the company have put out. The result then will be termination. So ask yourself which way is the better way. Take the hints and utilise the services available, or take the consequences.

It was only ever a matter of time….

“Allowing cargo aircrew to self-isolate after arriving in Hong Kong represents a major loophole in the city’s bid to keep out Covid-19’s new Omicron variant, medical experts have said, urging the government to change the policy.

Leung also called it “contradictory” that travellers from the highest-risk countries where Omicron was spreading were now being sent directly to the government-run Penny’s Bay facility while some aircrew remained exempted”

Lying in your bed in 20 or 30 years time, close to the end of life. Surrounded by your children, their children and perhaps even their children, what will you be thinking to yourself?

'Gee, I wish I'd volunteered for more of those closed loops back when I was at Cathay.' or 'I wish I had stayed in Hong Kong.'

The Chinese goverment now know that Sinovac, whilst not as good as the western vaccines, did an acceptable job against the early COVID variants. However its efficacy against the Omicron version is very marginal and they know it's back to a Wuhan 2019 situation if it gets in. They either develop another vaccine and administer it within a few weeks or lose face by adopting a more effective western version instead.

No wonder the borders are staying shut.

Thankful that CX did me a favour and set me free from the toxic environment that is CX & HKG, (not the fellow aircrew, I always very much enjoyed the flying)
