Rumours have it that this years 13th month will be announced this coming Friday, and that a special ex gratia payment will also be made to all eligible staff: half basic salary or HKD 8000, whichever is lower.

Pilots however, are excluded, as next years pay increase will take place with the January salary, as follows: a surprise 18% for captains, 28% for FO’s and up to 30% for all SO’s

Really? Why should pilots and crew have to go through such nonsensical 20 months after this ‘pandemic’ started? Get a grip!

My sincere condolences to the CX & KA pilots who have to suffer HK’s [email protected] pandemic response!

And just when you thought that things couldn’t possibly get any worse:

SCMP - Coronavirus: tighten airport measures, Beijing delegation urges Hong Kong in inspection visit over border re-opening:

“The team warned that the current policy of exempting aircrew members from quarantine “might need further review” after three former Cathay Pacific pilots arriving from Germany were confirmed as infected, according to the source.”

No, they don't have enough flight crew in the closed-loop to operate these services. They've been trying to get more volunteers for months, by offering their 'heartfelt thanks' for all we do and are surprised that no one is willing anymore.

The 'short term' solution is now rapidly approaching its 1 year anniversary...

The biggest problem CX faced was keeping these crews current and rated, no way the HK government will allow these “uncleansed” pilots to fly with local crew or even attend sim sessions.

CX should have “advised” the CHP that they will create segregation in the training building, one for based crew, one for local crew use only.

I spoke to my bank last week, they regret to inform me that I can’t pay my loan back with compliments.

Hong Kong Finds 2 Cases of New Covid Variant Identified in Africa

Traveler from South Africa infected neighbor across the hall

Valved mask, open hotel room door may have played a role.

"A new variant of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 -- called B.1.1.529 -- has been identified in South Africa, with officials there saying it’s of concern. Fears a new strain could fuel outbreaks in many countries, straining health systems, potentially evading vaccines and complicating efforts to reopen economies and borders."

So it all just seems to be worse and worse. Now that Australia has opened up for now, if I had land or anything else I loved in Australia , I would call it a ( profitable) day and head back to the place of my roots.
