They need to get the Neos up and running ASAP. The only way to do that is by recruiting PR/local ex KA and ex HKA 320 drivers yet it will still be a huge task with pilots not having flown or even been in the sim
for 15 months. It will still be quicker and more successful than training Boeing pilots to the bus from scratch.
It may even be part of some deal with ImmD.

Looking for qualified PR holders in Hong Kong. When those PR holders in HKG who are qualified refuse the current CX package as not being good enough the company will be allowed by immigration to request visas.

Not their first rodeo.

Must be PR and vaccinated. Most pilots in HK without a job would take it whatever the pay just to stay employed and current. Ad for SOs too.

It's not only with CX.

It's with Hong Kong Express too. They're advertising for their fleet.

It's not just Cathay. Hong Kong Express are advertising for both Direct Entry and Non Rated FO and CPT.

Ahh how the irony of all this makes me laugh...all the while living and working in the U.K. for this company amounts to this...taxed by the IRD in hk as if I lived there... somehow without needing a work visa, let alone PR. Of course none of the fringe benefits would apply...like the provident fund for example. As long as the hk government got their hands on my salary, everything else is conveniently glossed over. Somehow the topic of PR isnít so relevant when there is a means to an end...

A cynical person would think they will offer every applicant with a FO position with Express and then work visas will be renewed.

Express has a shortage where most of their pilots left HKG and visas expired while outside HKG.

The FON for 777 to A320 conversions will more than cover the handful of A321s. Not really enough sectors even to train them.

The advert is actually for Cathay's first canteen officer, you will be their first. You should be happy to fly coffee from your canteen to the chief pilots orrifice multiple times a day.

Well I for one am disgusted. The based crew being told in no uncertain terms we don't need you and then this..... Not to mention all of us sitting in Hong Kong doing nothing, many of us wanting to fly and work as we can't fly away to visit family or friends.

WOW. They have at least twice as many pilots they could possibly use. Most are sitting at home getting paid with no work. The rest are on part time rosters and part time pay & benefits for 5 months now. And they just announced today they're going to start pilot recruitment again? What are they smoking?

Always expect the bizarre with this incompetent bunch and you won't be disappointed. I wonder how many they expect to be lost to no visa plus daily resignations to be sh!tting their pants like this. Anybody have an idea how many are already out of work circulation due to no visa? Or do they expect to hire the few hundred out of work locals and PRs to pay them also without working so they can go back to immigration to restate their case for visa renewals. Talk about a cash bleed...

It's hilarious! All their pilots have been on part time rosters with part time pay and benefits and will be permanently, and in their advertising they state it's for a full time position...

Iím sure they start hiring just to satisfy IMMD. CX will either
1)fail most on the interview and say they tried.
2) send them to where ever they are needed, CX express or AHK
3) hire them and give them a start date later on when things pick up (whenever that is )

It is also on aviation jobs . me website ( I cant post URLs). They are looking for Non 747 type rated Fos. Must have PR and Covid19 vaccine.
So , I imagine CX is preparing for when Immigration finally updates the visa status from pending to cancelled for all pilots included 747 ones... Danny Lee has a scoop on his twitter... AUS to be closed confirmed according to him...

ALL bases will close. Company just going through the motions of complying with various base laws. This way company gets around non-POS18 LIFO and gets rid of more experienced (and therefore more expensive) crew. The Oz pilots with PR will go from no flying, no pay to sitting in a shoe box in HKG with no flying and POS18 pay. An increase in costs short term but a long term saving. Great we are one team and valued employees.
