Reminds me of the rebranding of Ansett Australia. First to just Ansett. Then ... wait for it...”Ansett.”. Yes that’s it, they added a full stop after the name. “To make it a statement” if I recall.
That went well didn’t it?

Adding the full stop was perhaps prescient.

If the target was, indeed, the Chinese market, the the change needs to be to the Chinese name. Shortening "Guo Tai" just doesn't work.

I propose Lucky Mega Fortune Auspicious Outstanding Airline (LMFAO for short).

Reminds me of Captain Blowjob who singlehandedly killed the multi-million dollar campaign “Service straight from the heart”.
You are legend sir!
Hope you’re still flying!
If you are, you’re probably much better off than if you would have still been in cx.

They haven't even finished repainting all the aircraft from the last rebranding...

I‘m not interested in Captain BJ, but that awesome flight attendant. She was hot , stockings n garters, just like the “ good ‘ole days “ of flying. Most cx crews are straight jacketed by their conservative upbringings to ever wear such items, seen as demeaning.
Hope she’s well wherever she is.

The "airways" term doesn't appear so I gather there's nothing stopping them from becoming the worlds premier purveyor of fine second hand aircraft. Come on down to crazy Augustus's plane sale. A50 for you my friend, special price. It would only make sense given their desire to eliminate flight crew. Actually flying aircraft doesn't appear to be anywhere in their future plans. Move beyond being an airline?

It would certainly improve their ‘green’ credentials. Just think of the marketing opportunities; the world’s first ‘emission-free’ airline!

Bean counters have estimated a HK$2billion saving from the rebranding.
This saving is attributable to weight savings from removing “Pacific” from the aircraft sides, paint cost savings and the reduction in ink use on other printed materials.
A bonus of HK$4billion will be paid to Directors and Board Members in recognition of the cost cuts achieved in these difficult times.
Flight crew are warmly thanked by the DFO for their dedication and professionalism in relation to said rebranding.

Board Votes

Oli777

As has always been the case, board votes (incl the 3rd floor muppets) coming from the CX Swire cuckholds stems from the question each secretly asks themselves; which vote brings the largest vig come bonus time? The grandest example being the windfall they all thought they would get from fuel hedging - and the Monaco villa they can “ for sure” purchase with their winnings😳 Oops

The deck chairs

Yes rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Stock holders and bond holders might take note.

Is this Deja Vu or plagiarism,? but there once was an airline known as Canadian Pacific Airways, after many years it was rebranded as just Canadian, next it was gone.
