Cx local pilots chipping in ex-ka legal fund to remove crew on visa

Read a unconfirmed post about this, any truth to this?

very smart way of safeguarding your future as a local crew but not exactly good form.

There are legal arguments on both sides of this debate that require funding. You can be guaranteed the mill owners have spent money so as to maintain the practice of replacing existing PR holders with the cheapest labor they can find in Latin America.

This includes having an artificial, discriminatory retirement age. My understanding is that former COS99 crew are also funding this legal action.

I’m fairly sure this kind of malarkey won’t be forgotten, once the smoke clears.

Hopefully not a situation where an overpaid western expat joins the long list of his fellow crew who do things like not be able to fly straight and level, fly an approach, or land... how embarrassing would that be.

Now we’re all paid the same, who are the ‘overpaid western expats’ Veritas?

I really hope this is not true and just fake news, but it would possibly make you look differently at your crew of the local variation, knowing that they might have helped getting rid of some of the very fine crews of the expat variant out of seniority.

this whole thing is getting uglier and uglier.

We hope and expect that Hong Kong Government will do its duty , in this case, to Hong Kong citizen pilots and so avoid this crowdfunding.

I hope overpaid westerners and overpaid locals do join CX and every other airline as it would show being a pilot still has some life in it for ALL pilots in CX or others.

If you're a pilot right now on planet Earth don't you want to be paid the most you possibly can be?

If this rumour is true, the joke will be on the suckers who give their money to the lawyers. As if they can have any influence about what the Hong Kong government/immigration is going to do. Almost definitely a case of shady lawyers seeing an opportunity to fleece some desperate and naive people.

Those posters above asking on PPRUNE for people to give them an account to put money into, OMFG hahahaha!! What could possibly go wrong there? You guys are obviously in the wrong job and should have been brain surgeons or rocket scientists.

Absolutely... sadly a certain group of people only want themselves to be highly paid, and are more than happy to throw their brothers and sisters under the bus and look at them as inferior

A drowning man will clutch at a straw is the famous saying that applies in this situation.

Of course the ones that haven’t been flying for +1,5 years are getting nervous: locals and seniors on the 777, their reaction is understandable. CX is simply, as we speak, looking into employee cost vs. sales ratio, and thus can a big sum of 777 guys expect the chop or ULV. No matter if you are on a Visa, PR or local.

There was an old saying about paying peanuts and getting monkeys. How prophetic?

This appears to be racialist comment against Hong Kong Nationals. It has been said that In the past Hong Kong Nationals were excluded because of eyesight. Now these days we see many foreign pilots with eyeglasses, spectacles, call them what you will.. So now we get the monkey excuse..
