I think there are crickets in the room as well, nothing heard from the HKAOA.
At least some show of unity or organised gathering would at least buoy the spirits of the downtrodden comrades.

main dog,

You said "The AOA initiated the financial support of the 49ers. That justifies their existence forever."

I said "They also cancelled that financial support very quickly and have since squandered away all leverage to less than zero and screwed up virtually everything they touched every step of the way to help get us where we are now."

You asked "Why do you speak in terms of “them” and “us”?"

ANSWER:
First, you referred to them as "them" when you said "their existence" the same way I did. "They" are who I was referring to: The AOA membership. Seems obvious what was means, since you spoke the same way? Not all of "us" pilots are involved with "their" ruinous association of fools. There are smarter and wiser ways to spend your time and money than helping to destroy your own T+C's.

Er... no I didn’t. You have the wrong guy.

Anyway, back on topic: I am also be tempted to leave the union, and just might. On the other hand, things will (eventually) pick up, hard as it is to imagine right now. In the future we will have one advantage that I can see: we will have far less to lose, and we will all be on the same contract (ie not so easy to divide and conquer).

Separately, the pilots and cabin crew unions are set to sign a pact on Wednesday to work more closely and pool resources, the first such agreement in their history, as both feel intense pressure from the airline’s restructuring.

Looks like some leadership with balls might finally be able to assist the AOA.
