They borrowed a similar amount 12 months ago. I think this new loan arrangement might be about refinancing and operational costs for the Mothership not HKA.

I can’t post links but look up “Hainan Airlines Loan deals” and look for the report from Blue Swan Daily.

With all the doom and gloom in the news about HKA would you(or any prospective passenger) buy a ticket on a future HKA flight? All that new cash can keep the airplanes in the air but a lot of those seats will be empty.

Great plan, pay one credit card with another!!!
Wonder if HKA will see any of this “phantom” $$? Good times to be in the “creative accounting” business.

HNA owns less than 21% of HKA, possibly as little as 4% so idiots on here think HNA throws millions in while the majority shareholders do nothing? Have a look at forward bookings, 224K over 10 days, and do the math on flight loads. It ain’t pretty

So did the payroll come through?

The media is saying that staff would be paid today, did it happen?

It seems that the answer to the question I posted but is stuck with the mods awaiting approval is yes the staff were paid but the airline still needs cash which should appear by Saturday

Best wishes to all HKA staff. Some good people there, and they don't want to be subject to CX's cynicial exploitation should they fall. We should all want HKA to survive.

Is there anything already known about the saving of HKA?
How will they be able to repay a loan, if they're already making losses?

LOL. This is how big corporations, big wealthy, and big governments survive. Rolling debt, rolling loans, write offs, writedowns, bankruptcies (in whatever form), currency manipulation.

Someone(s) somewhere at some point winds up paying the bill. But the key trick of the game is it ain’t them.

I don’t believe the Chinese Government wanted a failure and have bailed them out, A failure might have been contagious within the Hainan Group.

Life support was flicked on again today.

The airline is functioning only due to monthly life support.....expect it to survive without any support and it is a a guaranteed mortality.

The biggest losers are the creditors, who are growing day by day whilst the airline continues to operate. Western creditors are being burnt, Chinese creditors are being instructed.

Eventually, it will all come crashing down. They’ve kicked the can down the road til next payday.
Irrelevant, the very damage done by that bit of negative press over the last week can’t be good for forward bookings. Coupled with probably a not too stellar CNY, booking wise, it’d be interesting to see how much longer this mess will last.
2020, I reckon, will be a year of many airline failures world wide. You know, that recession that no one seems to be talking about..

KABOY I love that phrase, "Western creditors are being burnt, Chinese creditors are being instructed." Sums up the Chinese credit market since the Jesuits.

Brilliant!

Chris Kempis is going to offer jobs to HKA pilots , i guess that because he is a rocket scientist he is well placed to decide who becomes employed, I’m pleased for them but it isn’t going to go well for us just as ASL and Oasis were a disaster
