Why would they be looking for pilots? We don't hire pilots anymore, not at Cadet Pacific airways.

We hear this every time an airline goes under. Oh, a hoard of new joiners on the latest Z scale package, and yet it never happens, except for Oasis. Those guys were already in HK, many of them ex-CX RA55.

CX is a cadet airline now, plain and simple. Before long, the safety standards will be quite similar to the rest of the Asia Pacific region ex-Japan. It’s the inevitable course the CX board and director have put the airline on.

Sadly even COS18 is better than unemployment, so some will come, but I doubt they will stay.

Can’t see it being a bad thing to be honest. At least airlines are presenting there offers too the pilots that are now unemployed which itself makes the burden of doing the groundwork a bit easier

Also having multiple airlines doing roadshows against a captive audience basically puts each offer and COS against each other. It’s a good way to compare ourselves to the market, CX claim they benchmark the COS on other carriers so this becomes a way to test that theory

Virgin, Jet2, Emirates, Flybe, easyJet, and Ryanair have all joined the feeding frenzy for the TC pilots, along with lots of agencies. I doubt we will be seeing many of them.

With a stock price at a historical low, joining cx is not a prospective strong employer.

Not a single TC pilot will give CX a second glance.

I agree. Even on the DEFO package, the cost of living in HK is too high for the CoS. TC guys should be able to figure that out fairly quickly.

Well good luck to the lot of them. Being out of work is never easy, I would be extremely surprised if any of them show up at CX.

If their reading the papers or watching any TV news, I don't think rioters, riot police etc. looks welcoming...

As well, history will prove they should have said " PILOT MISINFORMATION SESSION"...

I’m not suggesting anything, but if those are the two news outlets defining one’s view of the world, it’s bound to be wildly inaccurate. There are lots of sources to build a bigger picture, those two are not among them. CNN sold out a long time ago from reporting news to being political propagandists for the PC, leftwing, pro-socialist crowd. AlJazeera isn’t even worth disputing. It’s been a joke from day one. There is no such thing as a free press in that region. Perhaps ironbutt should add RT to his news to have the propagandist’s trifecta.

So please list a couple of sources that you would regard as "unbiased".

Can’t. Bias is implicit, and journalism is mostly dead at this point. However, some outlets are obvious propaganda, and those three are right at the top. There are individuals on TV and in print who are honest brokers. I try to get their reporting for hard news.

save yourself the time and just say that there is no unbiased news source available.
only by comparison of the different viewpoints, you can get close to the truth.

So, if it's not a rude question, who are your go to individuals?

@Oasis Thats's all well and good but don't you think that your individual preferences will affect the way that you glean information from the right and left? Not trying to be contentious, just realistic.
