Semantics... but 6k is wrong and as with all things a plethora of contracts mean different conditions depending on years of service. My point being a 100 plus hour per month crew on a Yyz base is cheaper than a 72 hour crew in HK just as are based pilots on no expat benefits.... $8000+USD housing for captains in HK amoung other benefits not afforded based crew.
Basings are cost effective but this company just can’t seem to abide by local labour laws or apply a plain ‘make it work’ mentality.

Are they worried about the impending lawsuits from crew with health problems stemming from doing 3-4 polar flights a month for years on end? The 777X will probably do the flights at a lot higher altitudes as well.

These moves only save money over the short term. Long term, they cost the Company money. They know this, but they just don’t care. They are in slash and burn mode to pad THEIR bonuses. They don’t care if the rain forest never grows back because they’ll be long gone drinking burgundies at their overpriced chateaus in France. They’ll pretend to have saved the Company when in fact they actually destroyed it. Need evidence, look at the fuel hedging fiasco. Lies, lies, and more lies. Sweep the truth under the rug! No one in power holds them accountable because they are all playing the same game. Destroy the middle class to make themselves richer.
