Thumbs up China Airlines PILOTS STRIKE!

https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/...24-flights-due

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/soci...china-airlines

"The China Airlines branch of the Taoyuan Union of Pilots launched the industrial action at 6am on Friday. About 700 pilots are expected take part.

The move came hours after the union posted on its Facebook page saying the company had dismissed its call to increase manpower for long-haul trips to make the flights less tiring for pilots."

Taiwan pilots did it! What do you HK ones say?

True Arfur. However, escalation requires leadership, and the HKAOA lacks that.

I remember at the time of the 49'ers the HKAOA received a very warm letter from the Taiwan Pilot's Union offering both moral and financial support.
I hope we have done the same.

Can any of the Air China pilots reading this go into more detail on the kind of behaviour your Union has highlighted in asking for the removal of some Managers who have created this strike? I suspect its the same type of bullying seen in airlines all over this region - including Hong Kong. - Management teams around here are stacked with Little Napoleons and Little Hitlers. People who preach CRM out of one side of their mouth while harassing and abusing their colleagues out the other. Utter hypocrites - they are a danger to safety. Where are the Regulators? They only get interested when there's an accident, or a strike! Everything else is just 'industrial relations', no matter how despicable and hazardous to the flying public and crews.

It’s China Airlines.
I’ve flown with many Taiwanese pilots over the years and the stories they’ve told me about what goes on there - both in China Airlines, and in EVA, would make you shudder. But they never mention specific individuals by name. It seemed to me that the whole ethos was thoroughly rotten in both companies.

I'd forgotten what 'balls' looked like living in this part of the world for so long. Good to see these professionals standing up, united, for a cause they believe in.

Whether they win or loose their struggle "total respect to the pilots union for standing together". A sharp contrast to the HKAOA whimps.

Took a week but they got some changes. Interesting stats, Union is 900 of 1300 pilots and 600 went on strike. 2/3rds of Union. I’d assume once you add in all the keyboard warrior snowflakes on here and the bunch on the AOA forum pushing the witch-hunts and blaming their life story on the GC, the numbers wouldn’t be anywhere remotely near that at CX.

You are one sad git MC. Still, you serve a purpose, which is to remind the rest of us of the nature and character of our management. Keep on being the keyboard warrior you are. Only helps many of us reach the obvious conclusion: another day working for CX is another day wasted from the rest of our potential careers. Congrats.

You'd be surprised how many would strike, nobody gives a toss anymore
