Two consequtive cadet courses have walked away from the companys COS18 offer and the third course is considering their position.
Xiamen Airlines stepping in to pick up the pilots fully trained at CX expense. WTW.

So the non-rated cadets have bigger balls than most pilots already at CX!

Presumably only those eligable with home visit permits/ HKSAR passports? Or HKID holders (but foreigners) as well?

wow if this is true then it is a big statement.
i heard there was a petition going around to try let the current cadets in training stay on POS08.
if that’s true ...good for them.

Seems a strange course of action to me. CX is paying for the training. Is there something in the new contract that means they have to repay costs if they walk once licensed? If not why on earth do they not complete the training then walk?

Have you bothered to read COS18? It’s on a much lower cost base than even C scale, which would become B scale light after that introduction really. Without any guarantees at anything. Ever.

They can complete the training at their own expense, a lot of them are almost done anyway. With the added benefit of sticking CX the finger and going to HKA or XMN I fully understand their sentiments.

In the real world, when you f*** someone over, there are consequences to such action. Usually out of principle. If these guys and girls decided to walk I only commend that.

I thought only HK permanent residents were allowed on the cadetships (as per CX careers website). The walkout may have included already CPL licenced individuals on the SO upgrade course (open to all nationalities) but they wouldn't have bonds or contracts to break I would have thought (happy to be corrected)

Rumor I heard was that there are so many CX crew under training at FTA in Adelaide that FTA does not have enough accommodation. They are having to provide off campus accommodation and transport to and from FTA. Don’t shoot the messenger just what I heard !

Yes, but there are HK PR who do not have Chinese nationality, so getting work permit for China will be more convoluted than a Chinese HK PR holder (SAR passport)

Seems to me that those in ADL with better options will walk and the rest will take CoS18. CX will once again be scraping the razor thin slime off the bottom of the barrel and throwing it into our cockpits for the rest of us to deal with. Nothing new about that! The CX pilot job just keeps getting worse.

As a non-supervisory pilot, doing the best to steer my children away from a career in aviation, I'm somewhat bemused that I've heard a number of the COS 18 candidates will be sons and daughters of pilot managers? So when you talk of balls don't forget it goes up the chain a bit. Even with the career protections available to these candidates versus the locals say ( hundreds of unofficial hours in simulators etc etc ) how could you not protest and sign your kids up for this?

But when you go higher up the chain, it gets even more amusing, at an executive level, they've signed their kids up with the opposition cadet program.
