CX all Airbus by 2025

This morning at the opening of their new reasearch department in Berlin, Rolls Royce announced orders for it's engines going forward. In the statement it said Airbus was getting advanced orders for it's NeoA330's and next generation A350's and that SE Asia's largest airline group Cathay Pacific woulkd be all Airbus for it's passenger fleet by 2025. The Boeing 777X orders to be cancelled.

Wow if you have not heard a rumour by TOC - start one ;-)
Probably what you heard was will predominantly be airbus.... maybe because KA will be under our umbrella. Think about that for a second.
In 7 years we will be full of POS18 guys and SO's that have no backbone.... easy to combine the list then when most of the older guys are gone.

I doubt that CX will pull out of the 777X.

777x like the -8 are a 1/2 arsed rework of an old aeroplane. The numbers don't stack up against the 350s. Boeing needs to start fresh but they got burnt by the 787. CX likes to play Airbus and Boeing off against each other, but will go single type if the numbers are compelling. After all our fuel is damn expensive.

True - dumping the 777X is far too sensible a move for CX to take, so I doubt they will. The few things that it can do that an A350-1000 can't is unlikley to make it worth having a different airframe/ engine combination. Especially as we are likely to see IGW versions of the A350 (already with the 900 ULR)

Actually the numbers do stack up against the A350 which is why LH, AF, KLM ,Emirates and Qatar have opted for the 777 rather than the A350 in the medium term. The A350 works well for the first 5 years then the inevitable Airbus "get well" programme kicks in and the economies crumble. Also the financing for Boeings is much easier to get. European subsidies will soon stop and the cost of buying an Airbus will increase.

Ironically when KA were looking for a replacement to its aging A320's the B737Max came out way ahead of any rival aircraft but the decision to go all Airbus for both CX and KA wasalready in the pipeline.

United,

The 320 NEO trumped the 73 Max, due much better galley space & config. Otherwise, the evaluation was neck-and-neck.

This week’s HAECO hot rumour is CX re-taking the (nice, later build) 330s sent to KA, who will in turn place an order for 787s.

VS.

Yep - SQ are replacing A330 with B787-10 for regional flights. From passenger point of view, a downgrade (cramped 9 abreast vs 8 abreast) but more seats to sell

If KA takes all the 777’s and Air Hong Kong takes all the 747’s then CX will be Airbus only!

All depends on what Air China decides. All the Cathay "suits" will be long gone to Property, Bottles and Boats! Come on girls - say 'Yes' to dear little Merlin......

Gillette made a fortune by giving you the razor and selling you the blades.

i wonder how this will work when the first set of blades starts wearing out.

That's how RR/ GE/ P&W have rolled.

Boeing has made it clear they will only launch new aircraft on same model... (the B777X landing gear is designed & made by a small Canadian company that has previously only done helicopters & bizjets, because the other existing suppliers refused to accept Boeing's terms where they get the bulk of the razor blade income, not the manufacturer...)

All Airbus ?

Don't get your hopes up (or down) to quickly folks.. I highly doubt any or much at all thought has been seriously considered in this regard.
"If" what RR indicates is in fact correct, that decision would have been made by geek sitting in front of their excel spread sheet screaming Cheap, Cheap, Cheap and thus a prince or princess has fallen for the "budget cut monster bonus MO" as usual..

Things change - the Swire MO does not.

Lessonlearnt, sadly that is probably the only sensible option left. We have found ourselves at a point in history where we have a toxic combination of both a destructive management and a weak and clueless AOA leadership. The combined effect of that is an airline that will destroy any pilots career that stays for more than a year or so. That being the case, there is no point in staying even that long, as there are numerous better airlines hiring world wide, and any time spent in CX will cost you dearly in seniority/pay/career earnings at your next employer. CX is finished. Will be interesting to see how and when most of my colleagues figure that out. Good luck to all, but it's time to leave.

they must be killing it now that HZMB is running... just imagine the virtual $ signs hanging above everyone lining up for the B6 bus over the weekend. a good demonstration of successful strategy execution, only to be made even more profitable when the new hotel opens above the old cinema.

Rumour just may be true as it's rumoured as well that AB has patented and offered as an option a galley Pepper Grinder that dispenses Pepper at a cost of HK $ .00000003 per single serving.
