Anna's farewell
Love the farewell letter from Anna. In particular, this passage: "..I am, of course, disappointed that we have not yet been able to reach an overall agreement with the HKAOA, or that during my tenure we were unable to secure the industrial peace and harmony that most of us want...".
Really Anna? during your tenure, you personally were responsible for the complete breakdown of relationship with the aircrew (SMP, RP's, etc). Your legacy is one of complete and utter contempt for the management by almost the entire aircrew body. You have personally set back relations so far, I doubt they will ever be restored. I have trouble recalling even ONE single positive benefit to the aircrew since you arrived. No, not one. Another brick in the wall of Swire incompetence, arrogance and failure.
Good riddance.

The only reason she is sad is because she was not able to monetise any of her pet hates and put the cash in her pocket at year end. Exact same MO as all the other Swire automatons that float through CX for their 3 - 5 year stints of "Leadership".
The Jellyfish, now having finally passed Swire School has the same exact set of plans and I'm loath to say I do believe AT actually has a stronger backbone than her successor. Sad in so many ways.

AT has done more damage to the bottom line of CX than anyone could have at first imagined. Her legacy is one of a lost generation that will never go the extra mile for CX even if the current issues are resolved. She has dashed the hopes and dreams of many young aviators who thought that CX was to be their best choice for a career.
She has however the eternal gratitude of Qantas and several other airlines for training their pilots.

Anna's true legacy has been to turn 3000+ pilots into realists. Prior to her arrival, most of the pilots in this airline had a modicum of hope that management would institute policies and conditions that would enable them to focus on their careers and settling their families into life in HK. Now, after the wasted years of her regime, nearly all of the 3000+ pilots in CX are either planning early retirement, researching new employers, applying to new employers, interviewing with new employers, or awaiting their course date WITH their new employer. Even those few who are planning on staying will be working to CC for their remaining time, no matter what is agreed by management. The eventual cost to CX will be incalculable (perhaps insurmountable). Just as the supply of aviators is drying up worldwide, CX manages to alienate their once dedicated crew to the point that the vast majority are planning on leaving. Well done Anna.

Let’s give credit where credit is due... Donald M. has been the only person working for rather than against the flight crew during AT’s tenure. I will give her a minimum amount of credit for not firing him. Let’s see how long he lasts under a new regime.

Until the actual decision makers at Swire and CX board level get their heads out of their arses, it wont matter who is in this lame duck position.

What exactly did she leave behind?
Division, derision, inclusivity, unconscious bias training, benefit cuts, Project Altitude, Loss of 13th month for Capt, Failed negotiations, 2 SO on long haul, no paper manuals, cut 20% of recurrent training, smashing cockpit experience levels, skyrocketing resignations, empty bases, etc etc. etc...
All this plus her own personal and highly polished special brand of condescension Cambridge & Oxford grads have the propensity to excel at.
In my humble opinion, she's very welcome to go away and sprinkle her special brand of Swire Pixie Dust somewhere else for a change. They are welcome to it....

Flex 88 , that just about sums up his career in Cathay , the fact that he was chosen in preference to MH or several other better qualified candidates is beyond me. However management wants someone in that position who, when he is told to jump only asks how high and in which direction . He Certainly won’t be looking out for the crew

Reviewed the "Training" newsletter today and, cleverly glossed over, was that extra training GS DAY beginning in Aug for "Unconscious Bias Training"?? All Checkers, Trainers + senior "Leaders" will be scheduled.. Anybody with a calculator out there want to take a guess at the cost of this ??
Funny how trainers have been told by "Leaders" how the're not really part of the "Core" company however they have no problem stumping for the cost of this.
That said, put on your thinking hats and consider which "CORE" groups deal with the travelling public day in day out 24/7/365 ?
Yes, those persons, the ones which spend all day long face to face with the people who pay the pills.
Would not those front line CORE groups get maximum benefit from this type of training ? Will all 15 > 20 Thousand of them get scheduled for a full ONE DAY course ?
So who gets this training, those who interact with 1 or 2 a day... Makes perfect cost/benefit sense oui ??
The Dilbert School of Management wins again. That flushing sound you hear is profit going down the toilet "again"..
