Creating a job for someone while asking us to pay extra subs
I'm sure KC is a great guy and all but how much are we paying him per month in this new role that desperately had to be filled?
We didn't have enough to cover the expenses already and that's why we are paying extra per month, but we do have enough to pay him to do a made up job title. Anyone else confused by this? Kind of like not paying 13th month then giving cabin crew a payrise.

KC was my and I’m sure most other Bus guys only worthwhile point of contact on the third floor for many years. Whatever position he takes with the AOA, I’m sure that within a very short space of time we’ll be wondering how we ever got on without him. Welcome aboard KC.
X wind, some people are worth it at any cost. Not familiar with the concept?

Xwind. We are all entitled to our opinions. I do not wish to say yours is wrong, but I doubt the majority will agree with you.
I'm guessing you've never met the man, know his work ethic, and his capabilities.
Personally, I wish the HKAOA had been able to engage his services earlier.
A more outstanding, honorable, smart and hard working gentleman would be hard to find.
I would bet my next pay rise that he will be very warmly welcomed by all that know him.
Welcome aboard Sir!

I agree with all the above posts.
In addition, the extra subs we're paying every month are not 'to cover extra expenses'. It's a war chest (refundable) to cover colleagues who get sacked sticking their heads above the parapet. Think JL.

I'm sure he is a wonderful person but we are not a charity. We are for the benefit of fee paying members.
How much in fees did he pay to the AOA in the last 20 odd years? How much are are we paying him per month?
We could use the money we are paying him for the "war chest" and then reduce our monthly subs. We are obviously paying more than we need to if we can afford this.

Xwind, KC is the exact person we want within the AoA, absolute gentleman and will be a great asset. You probably don't know but he was treated unfairly and one of the reasons why he left cx
Xwindldg,
Over the last couple of years that guy has done more for the pilots than all 3rd floor managers combined. He has some good knowledge about how CX works and is a great addition to the team.
Everybody knows that you are a management wannabe.

Actually Xwind he is a replacement for someone who just left the aoa office anyway. And the war chest money is being held separately from the general operating funds to allow for repayment. Ask your AOA for specifics if you feel you need them.
Hiring him is like buying the source code of management operating system and knowing where the bugs are to exploit them.
He will be a very welcome person to have on your side if your up for a D&G. Also a truly compassionate fellow who understands very well the hardships such as long time away from families and the only home time with the family is when your too tired to share their lives.
Absolutely an excellent addition to the AOA.
Dont know how much he is earning, don’t really care, he is worth it. To employ someone on FO wage would be about $2 a day per member.

Don’t know the person in question, but I hope he will be an asset.
However xwlndg is right, we are not a charity, and it is also not a good time to be spending extra money.
I am trusting the leadership that they made a wise choice here.

Put it this way - he's a gamekeeper turned poacher, or vice versa. Think how upset you would be if the GS joined CX management, but in reverse. If DP and AT have intelligence, they will be very concerned
