The Director of People continues scoring own goals as "Tomgate" continues to rumble along on Yammer.

I’m very surprised that the Yammer backlash hasn’t made its way to the SCMP yet.
It’s the type of story they would love, with endless quotes to print.
Let’s see.

They can't print anything from Yammar. It is a private blog. SCMP would need CX approval to publish.

It's oriental daily that hates cx.... they gave a new 'name' to the company... In short, cx is now called 'Because Airlines' in Chinese, since every time when they publish anything relate to cx, the article always starts with 'Because of poor management which has caused the continuous dropping in airlines ranking'... hard to translate directly but that's the jist, ask any local they will be able to tell you

It needs to remain away from the media. As misguided as the comments from management might have been at least it allowed a means by which to send a clear message that all of the engagement surveys, and fancy metrics has seemingly failed to do. The last thing you want is the so called senior leadership going to ground and not feeling free to post on yammer. Their posts are revealing, in highlighting their disconnect and allow us an opportunity to directly really express the prevailing sentiment which can’t be manipulated unlike surveys.

Fad

There have only been 3 posts by management on Yammar and yet nearly 500 replies and likes.
Today they will be told to stop tweeting completely and go to ground. I wouldn't be surprised if Yammar went offline for technical reasons of course.
This discord between management and pilots needs to be made public so the public at large can see how grossly out of touch CX managers are and have an explanation for all the flights that are about to be cancelled this and next week.

That paper is simple minded and often appear to publish silly facts if you are in the industry, but outside people buy that sort of reporting and it is the biggest distributed paper in the city....

the fact that the 'extension' already made it to one of the post here with the translated title 'CX chickened out and got to its knees, pilots continue to their housing allowance which will be reviewed in a year' from that paper sort of explains their position against the company...

If an unnamed source from our side can gather a formal report and statistics and facts regarding how the 2 SO arrangement is unsafe, fatigue and it needs to have all the facts against what the company claims how other people do it that way as well etc, this will buy public awareness... and believe it or not, this paper is quite 'red' (if you know what I mean) that even the CAD might get some pressure from further up if there's enough public opinion on this as long as we don't talk about $$

The C&T's letter to the company in mid November was leaked and never published. Far too technical for the traveling public at large.

Speaking of Letters. One of the Boeing fleet management sent a letter out to all the Trainers suggesting that the reason to stay in training was so the individual "would not take a further pay cut". Unbelievable (instead of supporting the reinstatement of a 13th month gratuity). That is what you think...that it's only about the money ?? Perfect example of what's so dysfunctional about our company. Don't insult the trainers that way. Most are in the job for the right reasons, but comments like that only serve to disgust and disappoint. Ultimately that sort of attitude and condescension will only push more of them to resign. Another nice own goal. It's about time our fleet management learns that they are on the wrong side of history. Stop trying to carry water for the Swire's. You only debase yourselves with such actions. (and another reason I resigned).
