CX807 delayed on 28/7 - disgusting display by ID passenger
I am a retiree and was hoping to get on the Chicago flight, which was delayed for all number of reasons - and ultimately held over for a day. When check-in reconvened 24 hours later, I witnessed a senior crew (Training Captain - since verified) booked to fly FOC J class go up to the flight's Captain and dress him down for "ruining my f***ing travel plans", then yelled at him about not exercising CD to carry out the original flight. It turned out the front end of the aircraft was now full, only seats in Y class, so this guy would have to go to the back of the bus. Anyway, his little tantrum was done in front of other crew, staff, and passengers in the public check-in area. Disgraceful display by someone flying ID who should know better - and won't do much to dispel widely held beliefs that CX pilots are pampered and overpaid.

Aircraft was tech
I left this aircraft in ORD after a diversion. It was discovered to have a U/S Hyd pump which delayed it and nothing to do with the CN on the receiving end. Yes, I too have come across ' old school' guys like this with an entitlement issue. Unbelievable and needs his staff travel withdrawn a while.

I would have loved to have had this prick on my flight......if that is how he acts on the ground, how would he act in the air? Imagine the look on his face when offloaded for abusive pre-flight behavior?
Certainly a missed opportunity from the Captain on the day.

So an employee on staff travel can force a skipper to go into Discretion by threatening him and the behaviour is viewed by the company and AOA as completely acceptable?
You pull any crap with EK and their staff travel and you lose it for a year, no warnings, no reminders.

Shouldn't be too hard to find out who it is. The operating Captain can easily take it to the next level if he chooses to do so. I think losing staff travel for awhile should be the minimum penalty that this guy receives. CX does not like to look bad in public, if a passenger were to complain about this incident, a loss of staff travel would be the least of his worries.

So bustergonad's first post manages to include a concluding sentence about CX pilots being pampered and overpaid.
How did he manage to verify the supposedly guilty party's position. I doubt for one minute that such a total disregard for professional courtesy was demonstrated.
Sounds like a windup at best or malicious attempt to create mischief at worst.

He wrote about the WIDELY HELD BELIEFS that CX pilots are pampered and overpaid. And from my personal experience, the perception is still out there and, if true, reinforced by this behaviour in front of ground staff and passengers.
And the guy's also got the hide to be training his own eventual cheap replacements to boot. But the perception will still be there long after his terms and conditions have been whittled away.

The only staff traveller issues I've had are the ones who don't thank the CN for the J/S. Yep, last sentence in the OP is the clue.
I approved dozens of CX staff for the J/S last month and although I wasn't upset nobody said thanks I found it kind of strange. Looked back a few days ago and a couple of F/A's bearing gifts were being told I was too busy.
This place is getting weirder by the day.

To the cynics on here (and those pilots who seriously think you are beyond reproach), I'm not part of your strife with management and this isn't my first post on PP.
Married to a former crew, and if you want to verify my story, go ahead. To the credit of the Captain I don't think he'll do anything - water under the bridge apparently. But, the senior cabin crew will almost certainly file a report. The arrogant, and frankly abusive passenger, upset the crew and passengers definitely spotted that this guy was staff.

Buster
Crawl back under the rock you came out from under.
No matter how stressed people can get there is no way that scenario could play out.
It has never happened in my living memory of well over 20 years in this company and so out in left field it must be a wind-up.

In truth, it probably was Buster's travel plans that were thwarted.
And so, what he wrote was likely his private wet dream of berating and belittling the operating Captain in public.
But he personally didn't actually have the "Gonads" to do it!
He said he is an ID flyer...and well you can guess what sort of roach he is from the public outburst he has made on PPRUNE and the type of wheelbarrow he is attempting to push.

Buster, why don't you crawl back into the deep dark hole whence you came. Even your second post can't help but denigrate 'pilots'. Your chip is evident for all to see. Your story reeks of fabrication. Whether it is or isn't, your own bias renders any point you wish to make moot. Go back to your 'former crew' partner and lambaste the pilots together somewhere else. Pathetic.
