Bwahahahaha

There's a reason a lot of them were "let go".

Apparently, another few tried, but failed the process (with the maths aptitude test being more challenging than they expected).

Hopefully, many many more will have a go. Esp those ex-RAF boys, who should certainly be up to par for BA.

LOL the RAF guys passed a selection process, THEY DIDNT GRADUATE, they got dumped before completing the course. So dont hold the bar that high with them some are pretty mediocre.

Well I gotta bite here,
Recent "tools" in check and training sees the Canadians rising fast up the ladder in ridiculousness and remember the NTSB were Canucks who didn't give a rats about the troops.

A South African has recently stepped on his weeny and is one of the stupidest guys ever to sit in a cockpit.......and a particular loud mouth yank is hopefully in no way representative of the the Americans in CX. The Brits have some legendary folk who were just awful to work with. All nationalities have guys and Gals who are awesome people to work with and be check and trained by.

It is true in many countries a lot of towns are missing their local village idiot who have made their way into CX and check and training to boot but statistically I would contend all nationalities have around the same percentage of tools who make aviation a lot harder than it should be.

I flew with an ex-RAF S/O. Asked him why he doesn't go for BA and a quick A320 command.

His response, "I don't like flying. This is a great job for me because I don't have to fly."

Yes, but you live in the polluted **** hole that is HK. Plus reading through these pages we can see just what a lovely company CX is. Plus Jet 2 never fired 50 pilots randomly.

Yes, and even after all these considerations..NO ONE will leave a company like Cathay to go and live in Leeds for 5k a month. There are plenty of jobs in Europe now but, rightfully, I haven't seen many people jumping ship from Hong Kong.
Time will tell.

I wish I could have stayed an S/O. Just pull 3-4 trips a month, and spend the rest of the time on tinder, at the gym, or on the beach in Thailand.
15-18 days off a month, commutable roster ,60K a month and limit of responsibility extends to eating sandwiches. I'm game - any idea how to demote myself? I'm getting too old for this ****.

I did 660 hours last year at Jet 2 (FO). 560 hours from April through October, so average of 80 hours a month in the Summer. Pros and Cons to every job, but I'm home every night (or morning) and that is a big plus for me.

I've got 90+ hrs rostered this month.

Thumbs up

A370

I'm afraid your information about Jet2 is incorrect. You can take 9 days leave in the summer peak (normally mid May to mid Sep). If you attach leave to your 3 Requested Days Off each month, you can take a block of 15 days off, by overlapping a month end. Plenty of time for a nice break.

The reason Jet2 are in the news regularly regarding disruptive pax is that we have a zero tolerance policy, something which other airlines are now copying. You still get the odd idiot but it's definitely improving.

You say a pi$$ poor option but being paid nearly £100k to fly 500 hrs a year, and in your own bed each night gets my vote!

Have to agree with oceanic 815..

Two weeks time I'll be on leave on the other side of the atlantic for 10+ days. And still have a few days booked off after I get back to get over the jet lag etc.

I did just less than 600 in the year...
