What everyone in the union should know

I was thinking about negotiations and speaking to some other pilots recently. One of them told me a story. I was a little taken aback but being a cynic decided to research his story. I will keep my opinion to myself other than to say I am a bit concerned. He is in negotiations for us by the way, the person mentioned below. Decide for yourselves. May 31st has a whole new meaning, I think anyway.

US Air impasse could end soon Wolf promises swift response to pilots' suprise offer - tribunedigital-

In a letter to Gangwal Wednesday, ALPA negotiating committee chairman Chris Beebe accepted a number of conditions sought by the company, including allocating 54 airplanes to US Airways' planned low-cost division, reducing its 7 percent pay increase, modifying a job security proposal and moving toward an agreement for early retirement by 500 pilots.

The union also offered to put 22 percent of the airline into the proposed low-cost division; the company is seeking 28 percent.

Captain Chris Beebe (ALPA Vice President of Finance at the time) championed the Jet for Jobs program then later admitted (in his Ford vs. ALPA deposition) to withholding relevant information from the US Air Express pilot group. Captain Beebe possessed information US Air Express would never receive the aircraft promised (beyond those that operated at Mid Atlantic by furloughed US Airways pilots) and failed to disclose this fact to the US Air Express pilot group. Just one of many instances illustrating ALPA’s practice of withholding vital information from an ALPA small carrier pilot group in order to benefit an ALPA mainline pilot group. This conduct was not unlike what Comair pilots were subjected to prior to Comair ceasing operations.

Visionary. You are a first class piece of sh*t. Chris has been working hard and diligently on all our behalfs since he arrived in HK. What exactly is the point of your post. I can ONLY conclude that you are nothing but a management plant. Pathetic.

Well, ok, that was a bit unneccesary. Name calling is about the worse thing you can do here but thank you Air Profit for that.

Now my point is that it does not appear he did a great job for his own so why us? Secondly, misrepresenting ones self in court is pretty bad. The issue is we are at a crossroad now and we as a union have to decide where do we go IF the big stick comes out???

Now keep in mind the articles are not by me. I assure you I am not management. Have you not read my other posts. If you'd like to point out that he is working hard for us great. I did not state an opinion about the man as I do not know him. How is it we can slog others, mostly management, but he gets a pass? Should would not be watching our own house as well?

Why so upset AP??? A leopard doesn't change his spots so I think some valid points were made.

CB's surreptitious past should be made public so the membership can know what sort of person we have at the table for us.

Chris has been working hard and diligently on all our behalfs since he arrived in HK.

And so he should, he is well compensated by us to do just that.

His past was made public as a few US Air pilots were very upset when he came to the HKAOA. This is old news I'm afraid gents.

Nonsense. A majority of former US pilots with one abstaining and another supportive of the appointment expressed early legitimate concern based on their previous real life experience. At the time there where 9 at CX. None need anyone here who did not live through it to tell them the rest of the story as you say. Those pilots have all decided to let bygones be bygones but I doubt any will stand aside and allow someone who lost nothing and who possesses only hearsay knowledge and perspective revise history for them especially after they ultimately ended up here at CX as a result of decisions made whole and in part by CB. CB wielded much more power at US than he does now as HKAOA GS. Keep that in mind, CB is GS his influence only goes as far as it is allowed by his employer the HKAOA so I think the original concern here is unfounded and it appears he is discharging his responsibilities quite well for the membership and for that he is applauded. Again, water over the dam but don't try to tell me that bought and paid for ladder wasn't pulled up into the gondola largely by the US ALPA MEC as there where more than 1600 pilots who found themselves unemployed that had to actually live through the real rest of the story.

I'm not willing to surmise an answer for what motivates anyone. I respectfully suggest you ask him yourself as I can only relate to what I know and remember.

Don't know what happened over the other side of the water, but on this side of the ditch, CB's wise advice saved my career, for which I am very grateful.
