Thread removed or moved - newbee hotel experience
Hi blokes,
Where did that hilarious thread about the Cathay pilot wannabe interviewee who such a "great" first impression, checking into the hotel, with CX go?
Did the moderators remove this thread? and if so, why? Too much a scent of truth to the topic?

He was complaining about his hotel experience at the Regal. I suspect once he realized it had nothing to do with Cathay, he felt like a complete muppet and deleted his pointless thread.
What was more surprising was all the other muppets here who agreed that his whining was somehow Cathays fault.

Actually it is still 100% to do with CX, he is attending an interview for which they arrange accommodation. Pretty poor show from CX either way, not surprising in the least though.

Right, so it's Cathays fault that the front desk staff at the Regal treated him poorly.
Riiiight.
Perhaps CX should have escorted him and made sure he was ok, as clearly, that's what a Gen Y applicant needs

Wake up pal, yes it IS their fault for placing the booking without paying for an early arrival and late departure. They booked it to save as much money as they could at his expense figuring that he would be keen as mustard to join and a little inconvienience to him won't matter.
They don't give a rats he flew in Economy all night from Europe and was made to wait for a room and then check out way before his flight later on.
They could have done the right thing, after all we book hundreds of hotel rooms for crew each and every day based on our roster and this is not a new concept.

Well I for one could believe it, sounds like par for the course I'd say.
I don't think he did anything wrong asking if this was the norm here, sadly it is.
Better he finds out now I guess.......

WIBF,
Please go ahead and tell cx you're happy to accept a check in after midday and check out by 3pm for all your overnights, clearly you think it's acceptable
I bet you work G days too.

How funny WIBF - to me it would appear that you are the Muppet being happily tossed around like a piece of sheit. The young interviewee was invited to HKG by Cathay Pathetic for an interview and he's already being tossed around because THEY don't even give a sheit about making a good first impression - and that is before he has even started working for them! Thank God the guy was smart enough to put two and two together and questing the whole scenario. He's probably also smart enough to have read other treads that the moderators (aka Company-rators) have not erased (yet perhaps!). Sometimes the truth is just to hard to accept!
Also WIBF, if you're surprised about the rest of us answering his question - then you're truly naïve and most likely a G-day hero - saving the company from all of those Muppets, that God forbid it, don't agree with you.

Who in the world would believe that a “World Class Airline” would bring a prospective employee all the way from Europe in an economy class seat, land at 0500 am and have that candidate wait in the hotel lobby until 3 pm in the afternoon.
Who in the world would believe that a “World Class Airline” would allow for a prospective employee to be checked out of the hotel at 3 pm and then have to wait 10 hours in the airport for an economy class ticket back to Europe and no access to a lounge facility.
In the end we save the cost of one extended check in and one extended checkout.
We use economy and save the cost of a business class seat.
We want to show the prospective employee that we are a self-denying airline and what is expected of them when they join the airline.
We want the potential candidate to be totally jet-lagged for their interview and simulator session because when they join the line with this “World Class Airline” that is what the job entails.
Our Human Resources Department is one of the top Departments in “The CPG” and is run by the most caring staff. All HR staff are graduates with HR degrees and have extensive knowledge how to treat prospective employee’s.
And yes, pilots in certain positions are expected to work on G days, Leave days or any other day that they are asked to work. It goes with the position.
To My Bonus

WIBF, Not much of a fighter in you mate. Not surprised at all!
However, back to the THREAD;
Why was the THREAD removed from the forum? Did the MODERATORS or the young lad remove it? Thanks for letting us know.

Good day Gents,
I removed the thread as I had achieved my objective.......get answers to a simple enquiry. The story was by no means a complaint, although some were starting to assume it was. Thanks to all of those who answered my questions, I have no doubt that the correct decision will be made, if it hasn't been made already!
Out!

Prospective employers need to make good first impressions just as do prospective employees.
I recollect going for an interview in the ME and being placed in a run-down hotel with bits of tape stuck to the wall. Had there been a flight back to London that day, I'd have taken it.
As it turned out, I flew for them for four years for a bit of a laugh - and more take-home £ than I could get anywhere else at the time.

Holdontwice,
Mate, thanks for replying back and congrats on your decision stay away -- obviously -- you won't regret that decision for sure!
However, it's great that you got your answers, but it would probably have been useful and beneficial for others to learn from the experience you had, and for other "candidates" to have seen your thread - so I'm sorry to see that you deleted it.
Once again - congrats on making an early decision.

MadMajor, What is the matter with you.. take a chill pill - are you a little hyped on watching yourself in the mirror wearing those long sleeves with chips on your shoulder.
Lets crunch your argument. The Candidate is not ready for an international airline. I tell you what mate, well aware that you seem to be a tiny bit edgy, why don't you sit down, with your hands beneath you butt, and try and understand one simple thing, just one simple thing. CATHAY PATHTIC is NOT a "normal" international airline - if you think so - then it's simply because you have nothing to compare with, like most. This "candidate" was given a great treat of what was awaiting him, should he have chosen the Pathetic path. He's one of the lucky ones that can now proceed accordingly elsewhere - meanwhile God's gift to aviation like yourself goes to work thinking way to highly of themselves - while even your dog feels relived when you put on your stupid Cathay hat and leave the house to go fly for a company that cares NOTHING about you. MM, Who do you think the joke is on fellow.. Pick a good guess.. Is it the guy who cleverly questions and seeks answers, then puts two and two together- or is it the guy that bites the pain and thinks he's tough guy - like you obviously perceive yourself - and over and over again bends over - because that IS what you do, in CX! So MadMajor - if being poked up the bum bum is being a tough princess then I guess you're a tough Princess - good for you mate.

He should have read FH first.Would have saved him a lot of stress.
And I don't think an 'International Airline' would care much about having to make an impression' on a greenhorn.
BTW how much is a cup of coffee at Regal? $HK12?

Three Cheers for the MM
MM, you certainly had better not put your head above the parapet too soon. You are absolutely correct and those whom bitch and moan are the ones needing to chill out. When it has been suggested, in the past, that those unhappy souls pack up and leave they have said it is not so easy. I note that Yeager believes it is not so hard to go somewhere else, "one of the lucky ones that can now proceed accordingly elsewhere" being his comment to Holdontwice. Maybe Yeager and his fellow unhappy souls could follow Holdontwice elsewhere???
