If CX gets everything it wants from the HKSAR Government, at least until all pretense of the 50 years agreement is out the window after next week, why doesn't CX front run this and try to launch its own LCC. They can call the longhaul version Scram, and shorthaul version, Ocelot.

That would be the same Government in Aus that refused to allow open skies in their backyard. And try getting permission to fly from Singapore to London...
Jetstar just didn't follow the rules when they tried to set up here, Swire et al, did.
What surprises me is that now they know what the rules are, they haven't had another crack at it.

HK Open Skies SCMP 130717
This is very strange, Hong Kong for years has been willing to grant Australia open skies between and beyond Hong Kong as long as they received the same rights in return.
The unrestricted rights Australia wants is to Europe, and Qantas and Virgin are unwilling to have Hong Kong carriers compete across the Pacific.
They don't want Cathay to operate a Hong Kong - Los Angles -Sydney - Hong Kong triangle. They could not compete.
For those who are unaware Australian carriers can already fly from Hong Kong regionally (like Bangkok and Singapore) and to Europe. Australia does not permit Hong Kong carriers to fly domestic or international services beyond Australia, like Sydney to Los Angles.

What flight has highest probability of leaving for North Satellite Concourse?
I'm in HK often and will be again in a few months. I'm planning a long weekend somewhere in the area, and would love to fly there leaving from the North Satellite Concourse in HKG. I've travelled to/from HKG so many times, but never managed to see it, that's why.
My question is if you guys know specific flights that (almost) always leave from gates 501-510? At first glance it looked like KA flights to Kaohsiung, Cheju and Pnomh Penh are good bets. I'd like to avoid destinations in China, btw - so tips on other destinations would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks

If you want to actually depart on an aircraft from that terminal, picking any KA narrowbody flight will get you there with an >80% chance of success. 80% because any flight can be moved to the main terminal or outer bay for operational reasons and avoid dual fleet destinations such as KHH/PVG/PEK etc in case they upgrade it to an A330.
