Wannabe, yes, Cathay Pacific has established that fund, it's called the ticket price. It has factored into it the kind of costs you ask about. The actuaries get out their calculators (or abacus in CX's case) and work out the risk of these things happening and put a price on it. It's called the cost of doing business, something CX has trouble coming to terms with most of the time.

Although I am not the one to be able to say "thank you," since none of you have done anything for me, and since neither Mr. Goomber nor Mr. Li have asked me to thank you, I can say that I am impressed and moved by the generosity and selflessness of the donors. You showed you care, just like Mr. Goomber and Mr. Li showed they cared when they helped save a stranger's life.

New donations are coming in, but not at a rate fast enough to warrant keeping the fundraiser open. Those who wished to donate, have. Those who haven't, if they hear of this fundraiser after the website has closed, will certainly be able to add their donations to the funds already collected.

Stay tuned...

what about a quick email from the AOA to 2000 members to get them in the loop? If AOAC does the same, then you get max exposure and keep donations open until the end of the week.

The thread on the AOA site has 2300 views, which seems to be an indication that it is well publicized among the AOA members who participate in the forum.

If you can do something, Mr. Goomber and Mr. Li would appreciate it!

NH,

Don't be fooled by 2300 views; there are some sad muppets who live on those forums. 2300 views could be 1 person 2300 times or 2300 people once….or anything in between.

considered to be well publicized by whom? You or the AOA? if the latter, thats probably just 'cant be F***Ed to type something up because its a holiday tomorrow".

HPIV, I agree with your statement that it could be 2300 views by one person 2300 times or 2300 people once. I am presuming the entire GC knows about this fundraiser and would have sent an email to the members if it felt it was the appropriate thing to do. As to why that email has not been sent, your guess is as good as mine. Same with AOAC.

You are a credit to your fellow man, yourself, your family and this profession. You have captured our imagination and, somehow, brought this group of disparate reprobates together in a way rarely seen on a PPrune thread.
Well done, Sir! You can donate the cash to these two fine people and 'cock a snook' at our mean-spirited employers.
Brilliant few days to behold!

To TheManagement

Thanks for your rant. This shows the lack of proffessionalism that the crew must put up with.

While some notice could be sent advising the crew that it was better to keep complaints in house this oversteps the mark.

One SLF that will not fly with you again.

The Management is actually being ironic; it is not a 'rant', he is taking the p155. Many of his posts are thought-provoking and entertaining. He is not really 'management'.

If a poster on an anonymous bulletin board makes you not want to fly with CX, well, that's your decision as a consumer.

OK I have been fooled. congratulations TheManagement.

Trouble is is could have been true here in Asia.
It does seem though that they can mess their PR enough themselves without needing any help.

It IS true!

harrryw,

please believe me when I say that what makes postings by "The Management" so entertaining is how realistic they are.

Pretty much anything he writes here, we all look at & think "Yep, that's about right....." We have to deal with them every day.

The Management

It is amazingly depressing to witness the number of people who, probably consider themselves intelligent, but prove otherwise by responding to him/her.

"The Management" should be considered an artist. Like a painter, he puts something on the "pprune wall" not for you to add to, or colour in, or crayon over, but to stand back and study and to learn from. He is trying to educate, to challenge your thinking. He uses parody, irony, pathos and outright humour.

Like all artists, some of his pieces are a masterpiece and others, well, you might like to hang in the downstairs loo.

He most certainly is not management. His parody of management is frighteningly close to the real diet of cr@p dished up to us on a weekly basis.

I welcome his/her return. I find the timing of his/her return poignant and look forward to his/her next post. I also look forward to the "pprune intelligensia" responding to him and proving the very point he is trying to make.

I sense in the coming months his posts and the missives from the real management will converge. That will be a measure of his/her undoubted talent.

Ok, I´m obviously not intelligent.
I also got fooled by The Management.

BUT: You have to read more posts of him to clearly recognize, that he´s sarcastic/ironic. Only two lines could in his post showed the irony. But late in the day...The content of his post could a realistic threat for the founder of the caring campaign and his supporters. Therefore it´s easy to get fooled. Maybe, The Management ist a company lawyer?
