Yes indeed, a larger than life character, who would always make me laugh.
Whether it was his intolerance of locals yacking on the phone in the movies (snatch -"he'll call you back" - click, return) or wrapping a brolly round a blokes head who'd all but poked his eye out, he was always good fun.
Top bloke, good memories, sadly missed.
My condolences to Elaine and the boys.

Oh Dear!
I didn't even know he was ill (headstone?). Where is the funeral? Let's all go (if you are in UK) and make it great - like we did for Ken Vickers.
Good bloke - great family - RIP mate and love to Elaine and the boys.
From one of the "officers" you loved to hate!

I had the real pleasure of working with Wally for the last few years at Wattisham. I feel privileged to have known him, but feel empty now he has gone.
Wally broke the news to us last December that he was ill, and he left work that day. I met with him on three occasions after that, and each time he was the same guy, but increasingly frail. Only three weeks ago he attended the wedding of one of his sons, and I think that pretty much completed Wally's story.
Tireless to the end, a truly special person. I'll miss him more than any other colleague.

My Tribute
As a friend, the best.
As a colleague, the best.
As a professional, the best.
As a "Life Interpreter", supreme.
Wally made flying with Cathay a happy experience for all his colleagues; he made coming to work a "looking forward to" experience for those of us rostered to fly with him.
Condolences to Elaine and family.

Gone but Never to be Forgotten
Wally was a character, a friend and an outstanding professional. So sad to see him depart this life at such a relatively young age.
Thanks Wally for making life that much better for all of us.
Would someone pls PM me Elaine's contact as I had lost contact with them in recent years.

Funeral Details.
I've been messaging Elaine today, and the funeral details are as follows:
12.30, Friday 8th August.
North Lopham church (Nr Diss, Norfolk)
Dress code: whatever you're comfortable in.
No flowers please.
Donations to: Priscilla Bacon Hospice, Norwich.
It's a small church, so I'm guessing there'll be people standing, and maybe some outside.
Thanks. I hope some from here can make it.

Please note that the church is minute. Elaine has reserved the first four rows of seats in each aisle for close family and friends, the readers/pallbearers etc. I am sure that we will all respect her wishes in this, and will help usher what will be a very well-attended event.
