Tough couple of days for China Eastern.
"A China Eastern Airlines plane skidded off the runway at a Shanxi airport yesterday, just two days after another of the carrier’s planes mistook a side road for the runway in Nanning."
A 300m over run, after mistakenly landing on the taxiway a few days before.

Comforting at least to see the company is not sure who should take the blame, but the incidents aren't very serious.

300 m over run, (three football pitches) he must have been going pretty quick when he ran out of tarmac! What a shame we will never see any results of an investigation, inevitably the focus will be who to blame, as the manager said in the article, not what can be learned both of these unfortunate avoidable 'incidents'.

Glad you mentioned BKK Al, will be an interesting comparison to compare how both organisations and regulators handle the 'incidents'.

Wow. I'd challenge anyone to get his head round all those changes in units.
Is there a pin change in the Airbus/Boeing software that allows speed to be displayed in KMH?

Yes, fortunately many others to blame in this case. The managers should be able to pass the buck and rest easy pretty quickly!

The charts come straight from the AIP.
Jepp will convert the distances, speed, etc... so you don't have to make the calculation yourself.
But I don't know what chart they use in China Eastern.
