Air Asia- heads up people
Ok, I don't often get fired up but Air Asia has done it. Heads up people if your planning to travel anywhere with this airline. Seems they have a habit of cancelling flights with more than a hint of regularity. Booked flight Macau to destination X, 8 days away, then return Macau.
First get email with details that my departure flight from Destination brought forward by one day. 3 days later, get further email that departure from Macau pushed forward by one day. No explanation, no sorry (worth a a hill of beans). So, I ask around. Amazed how many other people have same experience. My 8 days away, now 5 in essence. Ive been told it's the Ryan Air Model. Don't care, and yes, perhaps you (I) should not expect much from a LCC, but I still expect more than this.
The more people I talk to the more I hear with this exact same experience.
My opinion, in future I will never fly with these guys and if the rule of 7 (I tell 7, each then tells 7) applies then perhaps they will get the message.

I've flown with Air Asia many times, including to and from Macau and HK. Never had a problem, always on time and service has been good. The fee for paying by credit card and trying to trick you into paying for add-ons like seat selection and insurance is irritating but flights are still cheap. I would certainly fly with them again.

Plus the aircraft that landed after them sustained substantial damage due to debris blowing one of the tires.

Why do you guys buy tickets on airlines that try to errod the pilot profession. Unbelievable. Dont be so dam cheap. The job you save could be yours.
But then again I do agree with your gist.

Often though Air Asia is the least unsafe option of traveling in some parts of the world, especially in Indonesia, home to some airlines that make Air Asia look like NASA. Have to say the limiting factor for me was the legroom, or lack thereof. Anything longer than 2hrs would be hell for the average sized whitey.

Going on holiday to China soon. If KA doesn't fly there then we are not going to that place - will be using confirmed seats.
Agree with sentiments on Air Asia and Idon. carriers regarding both safety and effect on the profession. Would only use them to escape civil disturbance or a medical emergency!
