Sickness rate needs to go higher if they are still handing out unpaid leave. If you got called out off Christmas and are upset about it, you should have called sick too.

It's their prerogative to do so just as it's your prerogative to do the same or, choose to be the faithful company employee for that nil pay raise.

Xmas day has always been a favourite day of mine to leg a sickie. It's almost, dare I say, a god given right! I have done it many times, and will do so many more times into the future. As for passenger and company inconvenience, stiff **** really, it's all about me first on this special day of the year

I think this guy is bitchin far too much....most guys are well aware of xmas/new year and tend to only go out when "TRULY ill" instead of just feeling slightly off.
Plus you do have to factor in that everyone is extremely pissed off over the pay issue.....
As for PG working doesnt surprise me.......does anyone want him around on xmas day?

Actually Jack the unwritten code of ethics says that you do not screw your fellow crew. We can all like or dislike management as we see fit, but the niceties to fellow crew is all we have left. Lets not lose that one as well.

Looking at another Prune thread, I'd guess some of THEM would have been glad of a Christmas callout. 
I've never thrown a fake sickie but, when it did happen, it was a biggie, and CX picked up the tab for over four months.

If you want to be home for Christmas why not request a trip that gets back on the 23rd or 24th? Every roster has unpopular trips so just bid for, or request one of those, you get the 25th off and no one gets called out. Is that so difficult?
