Socialising in Tung Chung

New to Tung Chung area and was wondering if anyone can recommend bars and restaurants that are good for socialising - SWMP (Single White Male Pilot).

Ditto. If thats how you carry your name, i reckon wanchai is the best location for your residency. Dont even need to be a pilot. Or lets just say anywhere in HK works well if you insist on uttering your full title. Next thread please

With a post like that, i'm not surprised you are single.

No "Awesome" or "fist pump" for you.

Relax fella's. Let's give the bloke a fair go.

After all, he'll be easy to spot at Slasher's or Park N Rob - just look for the brand spanking 2 bars on his shoulders.

You never know, he may even buy you a cold one.

Wow

Last 4 guys are probably under complete control by some overbearing b*****. Sad. Not the "b" part, but the submission.

As a single man, have fun mate. Smile, be friendly - you'll have the time of your life (assuming attraction to Asian women). There are Western women, just not as much - but enough, if that's what your after. Tung Chung - yes, but you'll have to socialize 'in public' - mall, restaurant, etc. Best times I've found, meeting girls that way (just like home). Wanchai, LKF, Hollywood Rd, all good with plenty of bars. You really have to be anti social to strike out here. But yeah, Tung Chung won't have the 'bar scene'. There are some minor places here and there for night clubs, but you'll really need to travel to central.

Don't feel threatened by the girls looking for money. Almost always cheaper and less stressful than my girlfriend, and more so than my wife!

Another newbie trying to make it.
Well in HK, the more you see, the faster you wanna go. Go away as in.
HK females (most) are one of the worst spieces in terms of looks and materialism, very soon, you might be one of those stories we laugh about in the flightdeck.

"I speak Engrrish, gig me muney......"

Trust me, dont post something like that again in this forum, you deserve to be a better being.

The zentro?

If you don't tell the girls you are a pilot, but rather a spanish teacher, or a writer, you will get a lot of sympathy.

Apart from cruising the mall for domestic helpers on their day off, why not try out the multiple other activities this oasis of urban living has to offer?

- There is a great fountain on the main square, very popular with the locals ( age group 2-6). Just relax on the very comfortable stone benches, watch the exiting crowd getting wet. So much fun!

- Catch a movie. You are a great fan of Fast and Furious Episode 12? You have come to the right place!

- Buy clothes at the outlet store. Especially recommended if you are a XS or XXL, then they even would have your size!

- Have a coffee alfresco. Mingle with the locals on a pastoral terrace, with breathtaking views of the housing estate and the MTR station. Take this,Paris!

- Indulge yourself at the food court. Wander between the food stalls in a tasteful, relaxing and welcoming setting. Smell the wonders of Asia and enjoy.

- Go on a ride up to the buddha. Get an exotic refreshment ( Starbucks!) and rub shoulders with mainlanders and tourists from all over the world enjoying this world heritage sight. The big buddha is so awesome! And big!

- Get an apartment with airport view. Nothing beats watching your favourite workplace in your off time. If you are incredible lucky you might even get a glimpse of Cathay City!

Enjoy Tung Chung, my friend!
Or, as we say over here: Life as it should be.

Slashers closed 3 years ago, the bar of "choice" is 7-11.

Cali

TUng Chung not the place to be for a SWM. At least not until for get a gf then move with her (to save money).

Try LKF, Wanchai, TST and other places for partying.

The only partying done here is for families by families. Single guys have it pretty rough in Tung Chung.

Lightbulb

Cali, from my experience, my mates who used SWMP as a handshake ended up with cracker chasing b____s or the like who gold dig (discretely). Some are at the point of too late and no return, unfortunate cases too many to name. Ask your left/right seat.

What you radiate is what you attract. You are still too young, in any sense, after a few months, your desperation beer will get old. Good luck mate.

There was a time when just being white got you into Cx and being single neant that you had a whale of a time. Aaah, but that was the 70's. Thought that the politically correct brigade would have got hold of this one too. "Unattached, Caucasian,Person, Airframe driver, or, UCPA might work. Bless. How times change. Now, where is my copy of "Snow Caucasian & the seven vertically challenged persons" gone ?

Mate, just go to LKF, Soho, Wanchai, Central and even some of the bars around Causeway Bay and Kennedy Town are worth a visit these days.
If and when girls chat to you, or vice versa, resist the urge to tell them you're a sky god. Tell them you're a student, or an English Teacher or similar, (and thats just about truthfull as we all still learn in this game), they'll know you won't have wads of cash, so if they don't bale, they either like you for your good looks, personality, appendage or passport. At least hopefully you'll manage to avoid the gold digging, deep as a puddle, unshaved ferals.
Good luck.

Do a simple google of HK Dating Ugly Truth and here you go:

81 Ugly Truths About Hong Kong Guys and Gals | Fili?s World Travel

This should be your orientation guide book to HK socializing. Especially true, scroll down for the taiwanese blogger's observation. Ask a local too, to verify.

And, if you are attractive enough inside out, you didn't have to SOS here. Reconstruct yourself first.

Some of the most quality females wouldn't even give a darn what your job is or what passport you are holding. If they like you for who you are, you score. Unless - other than your prestigeous job title, you have no asset to flaunt. Hard to find such quality in HK or kitty town. But if you just want to get some fun trashy junk, i don't think they would give serious thoughts about your job anyways - just show them your cash. Or, just learn the hard way and try meeting some engrrrrish speaking gold miner for the first few years here...

Truth hurts,
Amen.
