Quadspeed, love your post. Oh how true that is with all the majors today. The good days are gone, 10 to 20 yeas ago depending what part of the planet you live and fly in!
It's a pity Mapleboy didn't work for CX starting 20 years ago, he may have made an appearance before the Star Chamber??

For such a young candidate I just wish he would have had the opportunity to go and work for at REAL airline - as opposed to the wanky, wanky Cathay Pathetic one - now the guy will never know what a real airline is like.. Too bloody bad - but if he's smart enough he'll take the P2 time, get his P1 rating, call sick, sick and sick and get his wheels going somewhere decent - and while doing that as a sandwich officer - call sick, go travel and enjoy HK as much as possible meanwhile. Oh yeah baby.. Go use and abuse!

Of course "A" scale had to end - it was simply unsustainable however - so many CX drivers who SHOULD be on "A" scale, never will be. I am so glad I enjoyed the best of it because the future is going to dim the lights on a standard that will never be repeated.
sadly the only way they might turn back is if there will be more crashes like the air France one from Brazil
